Breastfeeding

A dumb question but need reassurance

I left for work this morning and forgot my pump!  I nursed LO at 8am and it's now almost noon.  I'm feeling full.  I'm worried that if I go all day without expressing, my body will think I'm done breastfeeding.  Am I being ridiculous?  Also, should I hand express in a cup?  This day will be uncomfortable....

Re: A dumb question but need reassurance

  • can you go home on your lunch break to get your pump? or stop to see your LO and nurse? or stop in target or walmart to get an inexpensive manual pump? at the very least, try to hand express several times. you will be really uncomfortable if you go all day without pumping, and you also run the risk of getting a blocked duct.
  • my boss is out for the afternoon so actually going to try to leave early. the possibility of a block duct scares me!

  • Your body won't think you are done breastfeeding.

But your breasts probably will be angry. I'd hand express or get a manual pump or drive home like the PP mentioned.

  • If I left my pump at home, I couldn't make it through. I'd take a sick day and go home.
