Car seat chest clip placement

We've discussed this before, but chest clips go at arm pit level. Not below. Arm pit. If you need to remove the little wraps on the straps to get it that high, do so! Please save me from feeling twitchy!

Here are more common mistakes.

  • I always make sure I do this since you brought it up last time :) TY!

    Me too!

  • Do you have more info on number 9- installation needs to be tight? It says the car seat shouldn't move more than an inch side-to-side.  I have said to my DH before that it seems the base has too much slack from side-to-side, but he doesn't think it can be any tighter.  I will be checking to see if it moves more than an inch but I'm almost positive it does from memory.

Sit on it and tighten it more.

    Thanks so much!
  • Question: is washing the actual seat cover, but just wiping the straps off okay? DD had stomach bug and puked all over herself and her car seat. I washed the cover, but we only wiped the straps off with a disinfectant wipe. I knew the straps shouldn't be washed, but now I'm wondering about the cover, too. I didn't really have much choice. :(

  • Thanks for the link! I need to send it to my in-laws - they keep nagging us about LO not wearing a coat or snowsuit when she's in the car seat.

Read your manual, but it is fine for our chicco keyfit seat. In the manual it says to machine wash cold and hang to dry. I was lucky to never need to wash the whole thing when DD was using it, but I washed it between kids and it was pretty easy.
