Nursing friendly dresses

DH and I have been asked to be godparents, super excited. Until I started stressing about what I'm going to wear...

Any advise on where to find nursing friendly and church friendly dresses? Not having any lucky googling. Worst case senario I could wear a skirt and blouse, but if really like to wear a dress (and not have to strip down ever 2hours to feed the babe)

Re: Nursing friendly dresses

  • I bought a maternity dress at ASOS.com a few weeks ago. The chest area is a wrap, so you can just pull one side down, like a sleep nursing bra.

Heres a link to all their maternity wrap dresses. They have some cute styles. :)

  • I asked a very similar question on the BF board yesterday and got a lot of great input on tanks, but almost no leads on dresses. I have seen seraphine and milk - both websites, but don't know anyone who has shopped there so I am on the fence about the investment because neither is cheap. If they are any good I'd buy them because I want to BF for at least a year. Anyone here use them?
  • Our daughter was baptized Sunday an I had an awful time finding one. I ended up at old navy and got one of their new spring silky dresses. It's short and has spaghetti straps, but I got a matching cardigan.
  • I'm thinking of getting some dresses for spring and was looking at the Gap shirt dresses, since they have buttons I think they would be a good nursing option.
Might not be as dressy as you are looking for but maybe one of them would work and you could dress it up with great accessories.

Japanese Weekend & Maternal America make some nursing friendly dresses. Nordstrom sells both brands online and Gilt.com frequently has sales.

  • I agree that a wrap dress would do really well-- and if it is too low cut for church you could wear a nursing tank (or really stretchy tank that pulls over well) underneath. I also think black pants/dress pants and a pretty silky/flowy shirt that would be easy to pull up would be appropriate as well. You can dress up a pant outfit with a fun spring scarf and jewelry.
  • Target has nursing/maternity dresses! I actually have a black one from there :)
