Growth spurt & formula question.

My DD is six weeks old, and is going through what I feel is a growth spurt. She usually eats about four ounces of formula every 3-4 hours.

But ever since last night it seems like she wakes up or is hungry every 1-2 hours, so I'll give her a bottle and she still seems hungry after four ounces.

I read a couple of comments on here that stated formula fed babies don't have the same issue as breast fed babies wanting to eat so often when going through a growth spurt.

So the question is, did your DD it DS Ever have this issue? I have a call into my pediatrician, but I wanted to hear the advice of you mamas that have been through it.

TIA :)

Re: Growth spurt & formula question.

  • When DS was doing the growth spurt thing, he ate less volume but more often. He would spit out the milk if I tried to finish the bottle!

  • My LO never grew out of the supposed growth spurt. He still wakes up 2 hours , will eat 2 oz, stop, play a little and eat another oz, sleep for an hour and then wake up hungry again. I'm really struggling to get him on a 3 hour routine. He is 8 weeks. :-(. Plus he's still only giving me 3 hours max at night. I must not be doing something right.
  • @Hg45‌ you're doing a fantastic job. As stated above all babies are different, don't get down in yourself mama! It's tough, but so worth it! I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I'm here if you need to vent.
  • @Hg45‌ it's not you! you're doing a great job. LO is just trying to figure out his own schedule and what he wants. he's still new to this game!

  • Thank you ladies! I am tearing up as I write this (blaming hormones and lack of sleep!). I know baby is doing what baby is supposed to. Deep down no complaints. Just is hard as I feel like I have not rested in a million years. #Trimester4willpass
