Babies: 0 - 3 Months

He's still hungry

We gave him the 2oz of formula with 2 tbs of rice cereal like the pedi said, and the poor thing is still hungry. He was crying and shoving his entire hand into his mouth. I made him another bottle minus the cereal and he seems to be fine. Anyone else experience this? I will say that he didn't spit up at all during that feeding which was nice.

Re: He's still hungry

  • If I remember correctly at 4 weeks I think DS was eating 4 oz. Keep in mind that if he is still refluxing he may want to eat more to keep the burn away. Is he on any medication?

  • Can you try offering the paci to see if he just needs to suck? Also, I might up his oz, by like .5 oz or something too.  Or call the ped and ask.
  • cajun - I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say my DD loves to give me the finger too. We have a pic of her doing it in the womb even during the u/s, after her first bath, the posed pic for holidays, etc.

He's been eating 4 oz as well, which is why I think he's still hungry. He's not on any meds yet. They wanted to try this first and see him again next week to see how he's doing. He ate another oz of the second bottle and is perfectly happy now.

  • Jackson eats from both boobs and then eats 2 or 3 oz.  of formula every 3 hours or so.  I'm hoping it's a growth spurt.
  • Cameron will be 5 weeks old tomorrow, and he eats around 4 oz. every 2-3 hours (he'll eat more at night, but usually sleeps 4-6 hours).  And, he rarely burps any of it up...just a growing boy!
