My LO was frank breech since at least the beginning of January (confirmed by 2 separate ultrasounds in Jan). I tried spinning babies and acupuncture to get her to turn but no such luck. My OB didn't think a version would work and that the risks outweighed the benefits so I never tried one.
After lots of debating I decided to schedule a c-section by the recommendation of my OB. My due date was March 30 and I chose to schedule the c-section for March 24 which is also my birthday. This was a very hard decision for me. I really didn't want to have to pick my baby's birthday. I wanted her to pick her own. I was also very disappointed I wouldn't have the excitement of going into labor and all of that.
Well, my wishes came true... On March 22 I went to the hospital to do pre- admission stuff. They hooked me up to monitor the baby's heart rate and to see if I was having any contractions. I had been very crampy since the day before but didn't think it was contractions. The nurse told me I was registering a contraction every 1-2 minutes. They checked to see if I was dilated and I was less than 1cm so they sent me home.
That night I was up with terrible cramps, hip and back pain. I had been having trouble sleeping the past few weeks because of my growing belly so I figured it was just from that. Around 4:00am I went to sleep downstairs on the couch to try to get some relief. I didn't sleep a wink. At 5:15 on March 23 I felt and heard a pop and a little trickle of water. I went to the bathroom and confirmed my water broke! I was actually going into labor! I ran upstairs to tell my husband. He and I were surprisingly very calm. I called the OB office and they told me to go to the hospital. I asked if I could shower first. They said yes, but make it quick. I went into the bathroom and a huge gush of water came out soaking my yoga pants. I showered and got changed and went downstairs to feed our cat before we left. In the kitchen another HUGE gush of water came out soaking my pants and socks and leaving puddles on the floor.
We jumped in the car and I started having notable contractions and with every one of them a gush of water came out.
We got to the hospital around 6:10am and they checked to see if LO was still breech. She was so they prepped me for a c-section. I was scared to death of the spinal (it wasn't bad at all). My husband couldn't be in the room during the spinal. He said it was the longest 10 minutes of his life. When he got into the delivery room he sat by my head and waited. Shortly after our baby was out at 7:34am on March 23. She got to pick her own birthday! I couldn't have been happier. She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
