All in all, things have been fairly easy, thank goodness. But I learned a few lessons on our evening out for New Year's Eve:
- always check the number of diapers you have in the bag before leaving. A big duh there....I know. Once we got to the restaurant, DD needed a diaper change. I pull out the diaper before realizing that it's my last one since we'd also gone hiking earlier in the day, etc.
- always check to see that the liner is in your Playtex Drop In bottle before pouring milk into it. I was good and put the liner in before we left, and I attempted to make the bottle outside my car in the dark night lighting before going into the restaurant. I pulled off the top and poured the milk into the bottle on the top of my car. It took 3 oz worth before I realized I was pouring milk into an empty bottle (no liner) onto my white car. Greeeeat. The liner somehow fell out and landed under my car when I pulled the nipple off.
- in general, having family stay with you for 2 weeks can be managed. But that third week of visitors staying in your house really begins to grate. Unless they clean the house for you (which they didn't).
- it's awesome being on the west coast for NYE: you get to watch the ball drop in NYC 2-3 hours earlier and don't have to stay up til midnight, lol.
Any more lessons or tips to add??
Re: My "fun" NYE - learned a few lessons
Lesson learned:
Do not drink lots of wine when you have a newborn. DD went to bed at usualt time, but I did not, and she was up for the day at 530am. She was all smiles; I however, was not.
Do not take a "nap" at 11:00 hoping to wake up at midnight when you are sleep deprived. I awoke to DD crying at 3:30 while poor DH had to kiss himself at midnight!
One of my favorite parts of moving west. And, I'm in mountain time zone so all our tv shows are on an hr earlier. I love it, I'm so not a night person anymore.
