Breastfeeding

What has actually worked to increase supply?

Between drinking beer, NA beer, brewers yeast, mothers milk tea (any other products?)

Which of these has made a noticeable difference to your supply?

Re: What has actually worked to increase supply?

  • I increased my supply, but I'm not sure exactly what worked. If I had to guess, #1 would be reducing stress. When LO was one week old, my parents came to stay with us for a week. I enjoyed their help but it was stressful!

I saw a lactation consultant who recommended Motherlove More Milk Special Blend. This is based on weighted feedings right after my parents left. After taking it for about a week — the same week after my folks left — I noticed an increase. For the first time, I leaked a little bit, and LO seemed more satisfied after each feed.

I'm also eating a lot of oatmeal, but I just like oatmeal!

  • I increased my supply, but I attribute it mostly to nursing as frequently as possible, pumping after nursing, and power pumping.

I don't really notice much of a difference when I do/don't eat oatmeal, take fenugreek/blessed thistle, drink mother's milk tea, etc. I wish I did because it would be a lot less time consuming than the alternative!

  • I'm also taking More Milk Plus, and I can't say for sure if it was that our just nursing, nursing, nursing, but I'm actually getting 4&5 oz on some pumps when I was only getting 2, maybe 3 before. We're still supplementing, but now only 2-6 oz a day.

I've just ordered the More Milk Plus Special Blend. Hoping that might give me an extra little boost.
