Pregnant after IF

very sharp pains in low abdomen, normal right?

Last night these pains woke me up, today they only happen occasionally but they are bad and stop me in my tracks.  No bleeding or spotting, so probably normal right?

Re: very sharp pains in low abdomen, normal right?

  • Sounds like maybe RLP (round ligament pain) - google for pictures and see if it's in the right place for you ... if it is that, there are some stretches I found helpful, also on the internet. GL!

  • Are they super low like almost by your hips/pelvis and toward the sides?  If so, it's probably RLP and totally normal.  I remember it freaking me out a few times but since it didn't feel like cramps and it was more sharp stabbing pains super low down I didn't worry about it.  Maybe google and just double check your position like PP said to get reassurance, but I'm sure it's fine.

  • Thanks ladies.  From what I've read about RLP, it seems to fit the bill.  Ive been crampy all along but these pains were so different it freaked me out, but I feel better now :)

  • I'm still getting pains like that in 3rd Tri and asked my OB about it today. It could very well be RPL but (if like mine it's always on the same side) it could be just caused by your bowels and things trying to move around in your GI tract. But she did say that it shouldn't be a worrisome thing at all.

  • It does sound like RLP, mine is usually a sharp pain from moving around. At night it's always the worst as I toss and turn from side to side. I seemed to get RLP pretty early on b/c the twins stretch your ute out fast!

You'll continue to have them during growth spurts too :) The nurses say Tylenol and a heating pad on low help, but I haven't tried it. Epsom salt baths are nice and relaxing!
