We are wearing a winter coat, finally! Just in time for the warm weather. Lol. We are working on a social story of walking independently vs having mommy carry her and she's doing pretty well. She's finally starting to verbally communicate more reliably in school. She's becoming quite the chatterbox and I feel I'm starting to understand more of what she says vs nodding and smiling and repeating back the occasional word to acknowledge her. We took her to the pool on Saturday and no seizures, woohoo! (Change in body temp is a huge trigger). She also was more aware of others vs just splashing and ignoring the world. Lots of stuff this week!
He got jumped on yesterday and was still limping today so I took him to the pediatrician.
We're officially over our white coat syndrome. He informed the nurse he was "in a hurry" to see the doc and told the poor man "I would like you to please examine me some more" when the ankle checked out fine. Then he started fabricating symptoms to prolong the attention. Hurrah for lying!
DD1 developed reflux around Christmas, and it took a couple of months to get it diagnosed properly. In the meantime she was losing weight and her energy level was really low. We finally got it figured out last month and started her on Prevacid. We had a weight check a few days ago, and she's gained back almost a pound, and it's now been four days in a row that she hasn't complained about her stomach hurting. I'm so relieved--she's a small girl to begin with, so losing a couple of pounds really made her look frail.
DD1 went to a spring break camp today at the local rec center. They went to two of her favorite places (Chuck E. Cheese and a trampoline jump place) and she was just bubbling over about it when I picked her up.
It was so great to ask, "So, it was a good day?" and have her answer, "It was a GREAT day!"
DD was reaching for a puzzle on the table at school and it was just barely out of her reach. So she shimmied her wheelchair so she could reach from the side and got it. The other day she pulled a little chair over to the sensory table while steering her wheelchair so she could sit with the other kids. Her teachers hve cimmented that she is getting so much more independent and doesn't need much 1:1 help getting around. Love!
Mine is more of a....situation brag but after looking we (DD and I toured) found not only a new "school" for DD but one with a pre-school built in and she will most likely start on Monday. We went to a few places, the one picked was the one where we did a drop in tour AND DD actually left my side and headed to the train table (no kids around it but still big for her) by herself no prompting! We ate snack with what would be her class, she chewed AND swallowed a non-preferred texture because the other kids were doing it and they have an including staff which is what she needs. It was recommended by some of her therapists. Plus they let EI and school system folks in for services in the case she does not qualify for developmental pre-school. Speaking of brag 2, we got a mid-May eval when I thought we were going to be pushed to June for sure!
DD was able to label kids v grown-ups correctly the other night; pretty great. She also teamed up with prep with her non-preferred therapist for some of the time at a social group she started.
