Sigh...baby with a cold

H and DD have been sick with a nasty cold for the past few days. I was really hoping that it would miss Logan, but no such luck. He started getting a little congested yesterday, and today he's been coughing. He's napping in his swing right now, but he is really restless and keeps making icky sounds. Every time he coughs, he cries for a minute afterward, poor thing. I'm waiting for a call back from the pedi, but I don't know if there's really anything to do for him other than saline drops and maybe a humidifier. Any suggestions?

Oh poor baby :-(. Maybe it would be worthwhile asking your pedi if you could just drop some eucalyptus oil in the humidifier to help his breathing. Or even a drop on his chest to help with congestion? Of course only if your pedi is ok with it but I feel it can work wonders.

Hugs. Saline drops, bulb suction, humidifier, and keeping LO propped up is what I remember from dd1. I hope he feels better soon. My dd1 also has a cold right now and I'm hoping dd2 doesn't get it.

We are going through the same thing. DS started coughing last week and now I have it. We have been using the vaporizer and I try to use the Nose Frida, but most of DS's congestion seems to be in his chest.  Good luck to you and hope everyone gets well soon.  I've read about using vick's rub on their feet.  Is that allowed this young?

Mine too, DD caught a cold and considering I can't get her out of her brothers face I knew he would catch it.
I thought about taking him to the doc with her, but remembered from DD there is nothing and all the doc is going to say is saline at every diaper change and use the bulb to suction him.

Oh also (I don't know how to edit on mobile but) sometimes it helps the congestion if you steam up the bathroom with a hot shower and bring LO in the room for a bit. I hope the pedi has more advice to make him comfortable.

Just got the call back...basically, it was what I expected. She said she'd rather not bring him in to the sick den if we didn't have to. Saline, bulb suction and humidifier. If he starts wheezing, call back, and if he gets a fever over 100.4, go to the hospital. Guess we'll just be roughing it out, poor little guy.

@magentawarped‌ I hope your little guy feels better soon. It sucks when they don't feel well. We did saline, steamy showers and sleeping upright/inclined when LO had a cold.

What's already suggested +You can boil water on the stove to help put moisture in the house. Also you can add like Vick's of something similar to the water.

Thanks guys... I've been keeping an eye on him, because he now has a fever of 99.1 and isn't eating as much. Hopefully we won't have to make a hospital trip tonight.

Holding at 99.1. I'm spending the night on the couch so that he can sleep in the swing without my H's coughing waking him up every 10 minutes.

Thanks for thinking of us , guys...his fever is going down, and you can just tell by his face that he feels a little better. He's still coughing, but not really congested. It does seem like he's lost his voice though...his cry is really squeaky and off from normal. My H is feeling better as well, so hopefully I can take a nap later.
