PP Hair dilemma

I lost a lot, and I mean a lot, of hair between 4-6 months PP. I know this is not abnormal but was something that I had not heard from my sisters or friends until I talked about it. Turn the clock forward to now, I have thousands of 2-3 inch hairs standing straight up all over my head. They seemed to grow really fast to this length and have just stopped growing. I had my hair cut recently and got a decent amount cut off to see if it would help but I think it made it worse. I look like a disheveled mess 24/7, even after doing my "do", using an oil after I style, the new hairs spring back and I look like I have just put my finger in a light socket. Any tips as I am completely out of ideas and frustrated?

Re: PP Hair dilemma

  • Ahhhhhhhhh, the baby hair phase. So weird. Honestly, all I can think of is a haircut with some sweeping, long bangs. That covered up my baby hairs, but they were mostly in the front. Did you ask your stylist? I almost wonder if there is some kind of deep conditioning product that could help. I know Bed Head helps calm some of my crazy hairs.

  • I had this really bad too.  Luckily the worst was in the corners of my forehead, if that makes sense.  Like, above the temple.  But I had a good patch right in the center of my forehead.  My stylist insisted that if I spray my hand with good hair spray, then use my hand to smooth down the tuft, it would stay down.  Of course, I completely disagree, I don't think it worked.  I don't think anything really works.
Maybe dye it hot pink or purple, and make the most of the baby-hawk?

  • Ugh. So annoying. Like TJ, mine was (and still is) the worst above my temples. I use "It's a 10 Miracle Leave in Product" before I blow dry and then rub some pomade between my palms before smoothing my hands over the bad spots and then spraying lightly with hairspray. This has worked the best for me..unless it's really windy. Then I'm pretty much SOL.

  • I like @LeahB12 had huge bald spots!  I had 7 big spots, all bigger than the size of a quarter, completely bald, like there was never hair there!! It was not fun, luckily I have pretty thick hair so no one really ever noticed, but if I had a pony I had to be careful about how the hair was laying to hide them! They are all growing back now, and I too have to hide the growth there are two spots on the top of my head that stick straight up like feathers or something so I am parting my hair way to the side, and using like a pomade type product to try to keep them down!

  • No advice here.. Having a baby always somehow alters my hair and it's he un-helpable for months after ds#1 was born. Products wouldn't help nor would flat irons. So far I haven't noticed balding but I had that bad last time. I guess the fun is soon to come :) I guess all you can do is try to spray it down and hope for the best!

  • I got my hair cut with layers to help blend the short pieces and when I wear it down use a straightener to smooth it. If you go the straightener route, get a good one. All straighteners were not created equal.

  • You could get a pixie cut so it's all close to the same length. It's scary at first if you have never had really short hair before, but they look good on almost everyone and they are super easy to care for. Two years ago I went from super long hair to a pixie (and donated 14 inches!). It has completely grown out again at this point, but I am considering making the cut again. If short hair isn't an option, maybe wear a hat? Sorry those are the only ideas I have!
