2nd Trimester

New Here and have a question

Hello everybody!

I'm expecting my bubs in August and as you can see I'm currently on my second trimester. I've been having these weird pain in my pelvic area (don't know what other way to say it), and it hurts when I have to stand after sitting/lying down. I had this pain about a month ago (it was rather mild and it happened a couple of times) and I asked my doc who said it's normal but now the pain seems to be around for longer. I'm scared to get intimate with hubby thinking it'll get worse and won't be seeing my doc for another two weeks. I'm beginning to freak out. Does anyone have any advice for a new mommy to be?

Re: New Here and have a question

  • Thanks for replying Daisy, I was losing my mind with worry thinking it's some infection or worse that there's something wrong with me. It's just that we tried so hard to get pregnant and now that I am I just want baby to be alright.

  • Agreed -- sounds like RLP. It can be bothersome, but it's completely normal. :)

  • Have you noticed if you feel the pains around the time your period would normally start? That's something I've noticed, I get very mild bleeding (basically just a tinge of red when I wipe after peeing) and similar pain in that area. Also perfectly normal according to my doctor :)

  • Is it a sharp pain near your pelvic bones, almost on the inside of your hips? I get them too but it goes away pretty quickly and Im' pretty sure its the RLP the MkL mentioned.
  • Thanks everybody :)

Kareiko01 I haven't been paying attention if the pains were around the time I'd usually get my period but it could be.

The pain sometimes feels as if my vagina is streching (sorry guys - I guess there's no nice way of saying it)

I can't get through to my doc because she's on holiday and the replacement doc just dismissed everything. I'll be seeing my doc in a week's time so I guess I'll have to wait.

  • It could be RLP or it could be your uterus stretching. More than once around 16-22 weeks I as almost in tears from how uncomfortable the uterine stretching cramps were. If you don't have blood, are not having contractions or any weird discharge you are probably okay. Try walking around or drinking water with your feet elevated. Tylenol helped me as well.

If you are still worried or think something is more serious then head to the ER to get things looked at.

Is it the pubic symphysis bone? it could be PSD but most likely RLP.

If it is just above your girl parts on the bone I suggest getting a maternity support wrap. It will only get worse
  • I think also there is just a lot more blood flowing through the area and you're a lot more sensitive.  I changed my underwear up and it helped a lot :)

  • RLP sucks, but it is a sign that your body is doing what it is supposed to do.

  • I had bad cramping from 4 weeks until until about 8 or 9 weeks. I'm carrying two happy, healthy babies. :) Like someone else said, as long as you aren't having severe (like you can barely walk) cramping or heavy bleeding you are okay.
