I have a ghetto phone and can't take screenshots of any texts from my DH. However, totally related to YH's needs, mine has a conch shell from Hawaii next to the toilet and proceeds to blow on it when he runs out of TP. Scares the crap out of the dog and makes me laugh every single time. You'd think it bother the baby, but she doesn't care in the least bit.

Can't get out of the box. He does, and it's not a big deal to us at all. We have our own jokes and rules at our house. She knows we are being playful and would never repeat it. I guess our humor is different? I think there is nothing wrong with it, it's always been a joke. I guess I'm not Klassy in your eyes and that's ok. 

 

I'm curious as to what happens when your young daughter starts calling other kids shit heads then, since mom and dad do?

Can't get out of the box. He does, and it's not a big deal to us at all. We have our own jokes and rules at our house. She knows we are being playful and would never repeat it. How old is she? I can't imagine thinking that is ok.

Curious about this as well. If she's an older teen, I could see this as a joke, depending on the context. Also I know I may get called out from like two months ago when I called my DD a "little shit". I think they key difference between the two is that I only called her that on the board, and not to her face/through text.

From like 1 to 18 it's totally inappropriate and crappy parenting IMO.

I think it depends on the kid. But by older teen i meant like 16+, if the kid is mature enough to joke like that and understand that its just a joke. But I do agree that its not the best example of parenting.

I don't see when calling your child a name to their face is ever appropriate, whether she's young or an older teen.

She knows it's a joke at our house and would never call another kid that. We've talked to her many times about the difference between us joking around and calling someone else a name like "poop head" who might not think it's funny and get their feelings hurt. I can't do screen shot (downside of Droid!) but I texted DH Sun night to remind him to put trash on the curb and to give the dogs their meds. He replied that he had. I sent a msg that said "Good man." He replied "Mighty good man." And then a few seconds later "Shoop."

Goof ball. Too much 90s channel on Sirius for him....

@KateMW, wish you would've said this back then when the whole board thought I was crazy for not liking that term (no offense @rfred20, I'm totally over it), but somehow I ended up being one of like 3 people to think it was inappropriate.  FTR this is what you said back then when the whole board flamed me:

 Little shit when they're a baby? Fine. We call DS an asshole when he doesn't sleep.
