2yr old sleep issues?

Hi ladies, I mostly lurk, but thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions for me! My nearly 2.5 yr old DD has been having some sleep troubles for about the last two months. I'm nearly 35 weeks pregnant with DD2 and getting concerned about sleep with both kiddos. DD1 goes down at 8p and then wakes at least a few times a week anywhere between 9p and 5a crying for us. We've tried to let her calm herself down, but instead she gets further worked up and sometimes throws up. She's climbed out of the crib once after we had gone in to calm her down and then tried to leave again. Any suggestions? Could she be having nightmares? Or is she just getting what she wants (she ends up in bed with us which means poor sleep for us all) and therefore continuing to do it?

  • My dd has always been a bad sleeper but we do epsom salt baths, a massage with lavender infused massage stuff and she sttn.

  • I do a lot of relaxation sleep technique stuff with DD who is almost 3. I set the time from bathtime with dim lighting and lowering my voice when I speak to her. I play relaxation/spa type music on my phone in the background and I rub her back for a bit or her arms. DH laughs and says I put her in a trance but it works for us and she STTN no problems. Sure once in a while she gives me a tough time but like PP said, consistency is key or they learn what the can get away with. Maybe you would benefit from a sound machine or a cd running on repeat so she can soothe herself back to bed when she wakes up.
