Cell phone in rice trick

I spilled coffee all over my phone because I am a dumbass and the screen went weird colors. I put it in rice around 1030--how long do I need to leave it in there before I know if my phone is dead for good or not?

I left it overnight when I did it. It worked for me...good luck!

I heard at least 24 hours but 48 is best. Sorry that sucks!

Is it turned off? If not turn it off and leave it for 48 hours. Mine was a lost cause, but probably because I didn't turn it off

Yep, I took the battery out completely.

I did mine 24 hours when I dropped it in a snow bank 2 years ago (my screen was also weird colors, and kept turning off and on by itself).. and it worked 100% fine after the 24.  But I know they say up to 48.  Hope it works for you, too.

I sent an iphone through the washing machine once... 3 days in rice and it was good as new!

My cell phone actually cost less than that case. Lol. It's a smartphone refurb I got for like $40. I'm not going to lose sleep if I gotta fork out another $40--just annoyed to be without a phone. Lol

Lol, I did get one! Luckily I was so close to the end of my contract that I was eligible for an upgrade. I got a 5s and bought a lifeproof case! My DD had stepped on my purse at the gym, unlocking the hinge on my water bottle and emptying the water in my bag. Fun times
