Fitness check-in

Ohhhhh the fitness check-in. I must apologize for not posting this the previous two weeks - I was on a brain vacation. It consisted of a mainline mixture of coffee and booze. Anyhow, how are things on the fitness train?

Any progress toward goals?
Any advice?
Any before and after pics (I'm a sucker for those, I love them but completely understand if you don't)?

On another note, I don't want anyone to feel DIScouraged by this thread. So what if you haven't lost any at all or if you haven't even tried. We all have a million things going on, some more than others, and I realize this isn't at the top of everyone's to-do list. We are all amazing mothers and I want this to be a place for encouragement (this thread, not D13 - we all know that's not happening ;) ). Party on!! :D

  • I've lost about nine pounds in the last month. However, I completely fell off the wagon this week with my return to work. I've been eating like crap and I feel like blah. I am determined to get back on track and to really plan out some good breakfasts and lunches to take with me to work for next week.

  • This week has blown for working out. I made it to the gym once for 40 minutes and I cried on the way tree because DH said something that made me feel selfish and neglectful to both him and LO for wanting to go. I'm hoping to get in tonight and this weekend. I just feel like I'm constantly running around from home to work to home to getting LO to bed.... I'm trying to eat well to make up for the lack of working out but when I cut the cals, I become so hungry I shake( I blame breastfeeding). I keep staring at these fabulous in shape moms on Instagram and wondering what I am doing wrong. My weight has gone no where still. My stomach keeps getting tighter but the weight is clinging to me big time. It's making me have th major sads.
  • I have been going to the gym 2-3 times a week and progressively getting back into my old workout. Oh ab exercises, you are so much harder now!

Haven't lost a single pound though, so clearly need to work on the diet portion of things!

After you posted that ice cream last week I went and found some so the no dessert plan went out the window. Also, Girl Scout cookies.
I have been able to do some Pilates and cardio while Luke isn't being super needy. He likes to watch my legs do weird things during Pilates so he stays happy for a few minutes!

I feel ashamed but it was SO good!

I have been doing pretty well the past few weeks. My weight loss had a little hiccup but I'm back on track . Working out has been good . I start triathalon training this week so I'm excited . I signed up for a 5 k at the end of the month.

Goals this week: find some new recipes and make sure to plan ahead

@teacupkat‌ don't feel bad for going to the gym. You need to do things for yourself and it's making you healthier so you can live a long life being there for your family for many years !
Oh and stop looking at other peoples photos. Your only hurting yourself and looking at them are making you feel like a failure daily. I make small goals that are obtainable over a short period and they don't all revolve around weightloss and numbers .

I'm going to join in the fitness challenge if that's ok?

This week I've went for 2 long walks ( about 2 hours each - I was drenched with sweat
    ETA: stupid mobile!!!!
Cont... And went to a yoga conditioning class. I got cleared for exercise yesterday and I'm really excited to use my mat leave to spend time with LO and get into great shape!

My current weightloss goal is to lose my last 11 lbs before Cillian's christening in May, so I have 7 weeks.

This week I'm going to go to 2 mom and baby fitness classes, register back at the gym, and go for at least 2 walks (hopefully outside, but if not than at the mall). Also no after-dinner snacking except on my cheat day!!!

    Glad to join you guys!
  • I still have not found the time to work out. :).
** insert pic of my fat ass sitting on the couch eating cheese doodles with DS lounging next to me covered in orange powder****

I have, however, started eating a better diet. (Except AF returned this week and I had fast food twice for lunch). And have finally started losing some more weight. I have 10 more pounds before I hit pre-preg weight. But have lots more weight to lose!

I'm sure once the snow melts and it starts warming up I will start to take DS out for walks.

My goal is not to buy the Ben & Jerry's salted caramel core ice cream!
  • I was bad last week (note: paleo cookies are still cookies). But back on track this week. Workouts aren't the issue for me - I'm consistently at crossfit 4-6 times a week and run when my body and schedule will let me which lately is only once a week. It's all diet - wine and chocolate cravings! I was down to only 2lbs above pre preg weight but I gained back another 2 lbs. I've been submitting diet logs with a gym friend also trying to lose baby weight.
  • Taking LO for a walk later today but accomplished some middle of the night squats and lunges while holding her when she thought 1:30am was playtime...

It's supposed to be 81 here today so we will probably go for a long walk this morning before the Mosquitos come out :(

  • I still fail on the workout front. And I fell off with counting WW points last week too. My weight is hovering around 6-8lbs above pre pregnancy weight. I'm thinking I won't lose these lbs til I stop breastfeeding and I'm ok with that. But I really do need to find time to workout. Now that spring is almost here I'm hoping it'll be easier.

I realized this week that I'm not quite ready to fully commit to my weight loss plan. I started back on WW 3 weeks ago but have been really lax with tracking. I think I should've waited a little longer, at least until I was back at work and in my new routine for awhile. So I have decided that while I am going to be more mindful of what I'm eating, I'm not going to start my weight loss plan until I'm in the right mindset and can stick to it. With that said, we did sign LO up for childcare at our gym last weekend and will start going on the weekends. I know that will make me feel better and maybe even help get me to the right place to commit to my weight loss plan.

Finding time during the week to work out is going to be a constant struggle for me. I can go to the gym on the weekend and every other Friday but the rest of the time it is hard. I leave the house at 6:45am and get home around 6pm. I'm away from LO so much everyday that I don't want to take anymore time away from her during the week. I think I will need to get creative with my exercise during the week.

  • I am, technically within sight of my weight goal -- 6 pounds to go.  But because the polar vortex WILL JUST NOT GIVE IT UP ALREADY I am flab central because there's virtually no space to do anything other than yoga in my house, and running in 19 degree weather, no matter how desperate I feel to get out there with my first race in seven weeks, is just not going to happen.

  • I was slacking there for a bit too while we were moving/packing/unpacking! I started again yesterday though, there's not much room in our place right now but I was able to do a bunch of strength training.  Did 30 push ups in 2 minutes! Happy about that but have to get back up to my 50 in 2.  Can't WAIT to go running again.  We got hit with a big storm the other day so i'm hoping to get out next week.
Eating healthy as well! Just trying to make sure my portions aren't outrageous

  • @mrsashleyk‌ thanks :) I don't know if DH meant for it to come off that way but I certainly took it like that.

I know it's only been 3 months, but it still sucks. My strength and agility is returning, I just can't believe the weight is hanging on so strong. I really am not over eating. I write down my calories and I avg 1850/1950 a day, which with breast feeding I can't imagine is too crazy.

My favorite bikram studio is opening a studio closer to me, so I may start going. Hopefully that will also help. Has anyone heard of that doing anything to breast milk supply?
  • I'm down 11 pounds since my 6 week appt but I still have 30 pounds to go to get to goal. Hoping winter subsides so I can do walks with LO. Right now I'm not working out at all but am tracking ww points most days.

I'm still wearing some maternity pants, which I find depressing. I have had to buy a couple pairs of fat pants too. Oh well, at least they button.

I'm still up 6 pounds (plus another 15 I had gained before I got pregnant). This was my first week back to work (M-Th). I went to the gym M-W on my lunch break. I also pumped 3x a day, so this was a long week and the days were just exhausting. I'm hope to keep up the workouts!

Good luck with your goals ladies! These things take time. We can do it :D

@teacupkat‌ I went to try hot yoga for the first time the other day and they told me they strongly recommend that BFing moms not do it. The instructor said that for some ppl it doesn't affect supply at all, but for others it can dry them right up even after only a few classes. I decided it wasn't worth the risk for me.

Have not heard, but make sure you are especially staying well hydrated!
  • Yesss I can't wait to AW all my shit!!

A big shout out to MIL because since she tried to tempt me with donuts, I've been great about avoiding sweets!

I've been making healthy soups and salads and when I have a "bad" meal, its rarely a "horrible" meal. So I've been doing pretty well with nutrition.

Exercise could use some work, but I've been erring on the side of caution so I don't burnout. I did my first yoga session a couple days ago since first tri and I am still sore! Hope to make yoga a weekly habit at least.

The best part: I have been less exhausted (relatively) and am down to 170 lbs!! That is about 6 lbs lost the past 2-3 weeks and 17 lbs away from my goal (prepregnancy weight!) Its giving me the motivation to keep it up!
  • I joined a gym called Curves and I love it so far, it's close to home and DH loves the daddy daughter time. All the thigh workouts kill me, but I am determined!
    Welcome Lily Anna!

  • I ran a 5 mile race today. My pace was about 3 minutes per mile slower than my pre-pregnancy pace but I did it! However on the way to the race I did consume a small danish :(

@redmond_steph‌ I have been doing aerial yoga. It's so much fun, and I can feel it working. I don't BF, but if they have it in your area it might be worth trying. It's not a hot class. :)

Good for you! I did my first post baby 5k today - there is no way I could have run another two miles! It hurt but I did it and didn't walk! I was much slower too - 2.5 minutes slower than what I ra last year
  • I lost all of my baby weight in the first 6 weeks!!... But seeing how I still have my baby weight from my previous 2 pregnancies, I'm not where I want to be, by a good 60lbs...! I'm eating smaller portions and avoiding junk food and late night snacks, I'm working out 3 days a week going to Zumba & a Core Fitness class and now that I am going back to work and returning to a schedule, I am thinking about starting early morning workouts and maybe nutrisystem. In the past month I've lost 8lbs and since I didn't give it my all & went on vacation, that's not too bad! I'm hoping to loose 60 lbs in the next 10 months and go from my size 16 to a 9... Here's to hard work!
