Sunburn

I put sunscreen on him. I swear I did. Most of it got on his legs and arms which are fine, but his face is red and splotchy. DH is convinced it's just a sunburn but I just feel so bad! Our fun day out has been tainted by his first sunburn. DH is usually the one to put sunscreen on his face. Now I know why. :( Any tips/suggestions for helping the sunburn heal quickly? He doesn't appear to be in pain, but it's just so pink. It kind of looks raised a little to me, but DH really thinks it's just a sunburn. It makes sense that it would be that and not an allergic reaction or anything else. He didn't eat anything out of the norm and he's feeling fine. I feel so bad.

Re: Sunburn

  • plain aloe vera. nothing else in it

And do not put lotion on it. It will just trap the heat in.

  • I like to put my aloe vera in the fridge for a bit before applying. It feels more soothing. Hope he heals up quickly!

  • Yup. I agree with PPs plain aloe vera and no lotion. It should heal up pretty quick.

  • Baking soda in the bath water takes the sting away too, it's my go to when I get burnt myself.
  • Ah, C came from her grandmother's just last week with a burn on her face. It was awful and my mom would not stop apologizing. It was pink at first and was more swollen and red the next day. It is peeling now. I just used a cool compress, aloe vera and ibuprofen.

His face looks much better today. Just a tiny bit pink. I'll probably keep putting aloe on for good measure. Thanks for the advice!
