Baby Names

Molly vs. Katia and Jack vs. Max

Alright ladies! I have posted here before but I think my husband and I have narrowed it down to two names for each gender. (We are due at the end of May). Please tell me what you think!

Molly Ann (MIL is Mary Kathryn but goes by Kathy, Ann is my mother's middle name. This is my husbands favorite)
Katia Ann (Katia being the German/Swedish form of Kathryn. Yes, it can be spelled Katja but we like it with the i better. Nickname of "Katie". This is my favorite.)

Jack Henry (This is my personal favorite boys name)
Maxwell Daniel (My husbands favorite. Baby would be "Max")

Thoughts? Opinions? Our last name is a long somewhat German last name so we need to go with something that is easy for the first name.

Thanks!!! :)

I like Katia with no nickname.  It's so refreshingly different from Katie that I can't see changing such a nice name to something so generic.

This for me too.  I really like Katia but I would not use Katie as a nn.  I do not think Katia needs a nn.

I prefer Jack, but both boys names are great.

  • Love Katia, but also love it spelled Katya.  (And this is not a random y -- it's a traditional spelling.)

I don't love Jack as a given name, so I'd choose Maxwell.
  • I love Katia. Prefer it spelled Katya or Katja. However, if you plan on just calling her Katie... then my vote might go to Molly. Although I've met 3 baby Mollys in the last 6 months so I wonder about popularity. They are both great names.

I like Jack Henry, but again Max is fine too :)

Katja but only if you spell it like that.
    Loving Jack Henry

Eta: I would immediately think Katia is pronounced "Katie-ah" but Katja as "Kah-tya"

  • Prefer Katia Ann and Maxwell Daniel
  • Another for Katia with no NN, so gorgeous. I prefer Max just bc Jack seems to be crazy popular.

If you are set on that spelling then my vote goes to Molly Ann, but I would prefer Mary Ann w/ the NN Molly to distinguish her from g-ma.

Katia and Maxwell both have more spunk to them. I like them much better.

  • I love Katia.

For boys' names, I'd go with Max, but both are nice.

  • I love Katja/Katia!  I'd also choose Max, but short for Maximilian which sounds more German (it's my guilty pleasure name).

  • Katia and Jack. Katia is a beautiful name on its own, but I quite like Katie too.
