New Jersey Babies

Daycare

I'm about 10 weeks pregnant with my first and keep hearing stories about wait lists for daycares, so I figure I should start looking into this. I live in Mountainside and work in New Brunswick, so looking for something that would be on my way.  I usually take 22 west and back roads through Green Brook/Piscataway, but would be willing to go through Westfield/Clark as well.  Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

  • I looked into Rainbow Academy and liked it a lot.  They take babies at 6 weeks I believe.  We ended up at Wonder Years in Fanwood.  I have a 3 1/2 month old who started at 12 weeks.  I chose it b/c it was closer to my home, and also I liked that it was smaller than Rainbow, it seemed more family like.  The baby room usually has about 8-12 babies in there (depending on the day as there are some part timers), and as I walk through the center, everyone knows me and knows my son.  I like that feel.
I think there is also a Primrose right in Mountainside which I have not been to but I heard good things about.

The best advice I can give is to go visit as many centers as you can.  I went to about 10 of them when I was pregnant and it really helped me to figure out what was important to me.
  • I have an appt at Rainbow and Primrose so far.  I'll also look into Wonder years.  Thank you!
  • Here We Grow in Westfield is great.
