Gaining weight during maternity leave!

Arrgh!  Is anyone else gaining weight on maternity leave?  I have become so sedentary & our friends & family have been bringing so much food since our son was born 8 weeks ago & I'm sure I've put on 10lbs since he was born. I feel terrible about myself & don't even want to get on the scale to see how much I weigh, but I did give all my maternity clothes (including my comfy jeans) to the Salvation Army today so I have to deal with the reality!
Me: 42, DH: 43. We are so grateful to have a 2yr old daughter, conceived naturally after 3 miscarriages & no treatments (our Dr. gave us 1 more month to try on our own before advacing to IVF, & we conceived her naturally in January 2010)! Trying since April 2011 without sucess....MD said we were both "fine" & that if it wasn't happening, it was a chromosomal issue. Finally started Follistim 225mcg injections with an Ovidrel trigger November 2012. Bleeding 11 days post Ovidrel on November 25th. Starting the whole lab/Ultrasound/Follistim cycle again on November 27th...

Re: Gaining weight during maternity leave!

  • I've put on 5 because I'm lazy right now basically and my husband keeps bringing me home cookies

  • I have no time to eat. When DH goes back to work I think I'm going to whither away.

  • I haven't gained but I haven't lost any more weight since about 3 weeks pp. I dropped 25lbs right away and was so excited thinking weight loss would be easy. These last 10lbs are haunting me daily :(. I thought I'd be able to work out but LO is still pretty clingy and rarely lets me put her down during the day. Maybe if I stopped drowning my sorrows in Papa Johns & ice cream I'd lose some :)
  • I think it's the weather too.  We have the never-ending winter in Chicago & it's great to be so cozy at home, but I eat so much more being at home & that's not like me at all!  Plus friends & family keep bringing us food! We're warming up to 40 tomorrow though so I may go for a 5hr walk with LO in the Baby Bjorn to start getting this weight off!

Thanks for listening to my vent!  I just needed to get it out there!

  • I haven't gained weight (I was a bigger girl to begin with) and am below my prepregnancy weight, but good heavens I look like crap in my clothes. Just got cleared to start exercising, but can't fathom where I'll get the time or the energy to do so.
