Co-ed Shower...Invite Kids??

My husband and I want to have a co-ed Baby BBQ Shower. Since the shower is co-ed ( both parents will be attending ), is it necessary to invite children? It wouldn't be an issue except that there would be 30+ kids in attendance. Thoughts/Advice?? Thanks!

Re: Co-ed Shower...Invite Kids??

  • So, is this a traditional shower with gifts,  only co-ed, or is this more of an actual get together with friends before becoming parents?

If this a "gift" shower, like most other showers, I'm not sure you should be throwing yourselves one. I would think that something that other people would throw for you?

If it's just a get-together with your friends, you should be able to spread the word via invites or word of mouth that it's adults only. Bear in mind, there will ALWAYS be at least one couple who thinks that their kids do not fall under that request and they will bring their kids anyway. Always.

  • Ask the host/hostess. If the host cannot afford to include kids (in addition to an already enlarged guestlist with it being co-ed), then the decision is made for you.

  • If it were me, I'd say no children. 30+ kids is a lot to have to keep an eye on.
  • I wouldn't want that many kids at a shower, but I agree...ask the hostess.
