  • Nope, not at all.  Seems short compared to my name growing up!

  • It's very lispy.  I don't think it's the FN MN combo so much, but the FN LN combo.

    What about Malcolm?

Sounds good to me! DD was going to be Miles if she was a boy.
  • Thanks everyone for your thoughts on this. I REALLY appreciate it!

This.  I don't think the MN is a big deal, but FN/LN flow would give me pause.  We have an S last name also and have eliminated most FNs ending in S or with strong S sounds for that reason.  A few people in DH's family have FNs ending in S, but they also go by their nicknames a lot.

  • I like it! I actually know a little boy named Miles Scott LN!
  • I'd say go for it! I wouldn't say it sounds fantastic, but it's not bad and definitely not too much of a mouthful. The family significance is WAY more important than the sound IMO.

  • I can see why you are concerned... There's a Iot of "s" going on. But since you both like the fn and your H is really pulling for the mn and it has significance... I say it's fine. It doesn't sound bad. It's a nice name overall!

Yes I do think it is a mouth full. Not even that, but the first name ends with the same letter as the last name starts with, so it just rolls into one word. "Mile Sliwinski? Miles Liwinski? Ohhhh, Miles Sliwinski!"
  • I think there are way too many S sounds.

I was thinking maybe Milo.  Same "feel" as Miles, without the s.

    Agreed
I like Milo with your last name better

Exactly this. We have a similar problem with our last name.
