I'm wondering about the mattress situation for this. Do I need to buy Ikea mattresses, or can I get regular twin mattresses? If we get this bed (if we're currently having a girl, we'll hopefully find out in the next month or so), we would start DD1 underneath, with her mattress on the floor this spring, and then move her up and put DD2 underneath when she's ready for a big kid bed. It looks like the measurements are the same as a standard twin, but I'm concerned about the thickness of a regular twin mattress in the top loft part, because Ikea ones seem thinner. Do Ikea mattresses fit regular twin fitted sheets? What is the quality like?
We have it - Callum sleeps on top and Eleanor sleep underneath. It is a twin size mattress (the older ones were not). We have the IKEA mattress - just the cheapest foam one - and it's totally fine. I sleep with Eleanor sometimes and it's comfy We did buy the wooden slats to put under her mattress so it wasn't directly on the floor.
Re: IKEA Kura bed, anyone? Ikea mattress help generally.
