Re: losing weight

  • I don't have an answer for you, but I am in your situation. I gained 45 pounds and am 3.5 mo. pp and have 12 to go. I have not purchased new clothes b/c I don't want to have an excuse to stay at this higher weight! So, my wardrobe is a combo of maternity slacks, jersey knit skirts, dresses and my pre-pregnancy pants that are one size too small that I wear unbuttoned with a bella band over it and a longer shirt or suit jacket. No one can tell and it is a constant motivator to work out and eat healthy.

  • I gained about 55 lbs too and so far I have only lost 30 of it. Granted I didn't do much to help that during the holidays.... but I did have to buy some new work clothes to get me through. I am starting WW on Monday.
  • Everyone is different, but the last 10 pounds is not coming off effortless for me.  I'm starting to workout and watch my eating and hope this does the trick.
  • I gained about 45 and had lost 30 by 6 weeks pp by eating healthy and breastfeeding. But now I'm back to work and comforting myself with a bowl of ice cream every other night, also our clients keep bringing in goodies for the holidays. *shrugs* I haven't lost any more. But I can button my pp clothes even though they're tight. I won't buy anything new because the tight clothes are (eventually) going to motivate me to lose weight.
  • I would expect to lose approx 1lb per week by eating properly and BFing, possibly more if adding exercise.  Eating properly is really the key.  You need to put in enough quality calories to support yourself - don't try and starve, whatever you do!

FWIW, I didn't lose the last 5 lbs or so until after I stopped BFing, and a few of my friends said the same thing.  It was almost as if our bodies were holding on to a bit of extra fat to support the BFing.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • thx! going to buy exercise equipment this wknd since no time for a gym!

  • Actually, I lost all of my pre-pregnancy weight, but I still cannot fit my pre-pregnancy clothes.  The weight is proportioned buch different now.  Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

Same for me. I can get my jeans on but they won't button or zip, not even close! And I have lost all the weight, plus a pound or two. I'm dieting because I'm confused of what I should do. I keep trying them on, though!
