I've decided to supplement a bottle today to get my stash back up for the babysitter this week. But not really sure what's the best way to do it! I'd like to just give her one formula bottle but would it be to much on her stomach??

  • Give her that similac for bf supplement. I think they make it to be easier for bf babies tummies. But idk I could be wrong.

That's what I have! I was thinking the same thing!
  • I wouldn't mix with BM because if she won't take it, you've wasted BM. Some people like to mix because they're afraid baby won't take it due to taste. However, formula tastes nasty regardless of how much BM you mix with it, so you might as well try it straight. It won't have an effect on her stomach, either way because she'll still be getting formula.

Thanks! I just went ahead and gave her a full formula bottle about an hour ago, she took it like a champ and no problems so far!

Have you tasted formula with varying concentrations of BM, or are you just presuming?
    Genuinely curious.

Sure have. I supplemented with DD1. She wouldn't take bottles of my frozen BM because of excess lipase. So we did some testing with various levels of BM, fresh and frozen to see what she would take. In the end, DH just started giving her full formula bottles without telling me because he knew I was being neurotic, and she took it just fine.

  • you can do straight if she'll take it. if not, then mix it with bm and see if she'll take that.

I just did straight formula bottle. She took it like it was nothing new!

    I tasted it. Disgusting.

To answer, I give mine 3-4 bottles of bm while I'm at work, and she takes another 1-2 of reg formula

  • I do 1 bottle of straight formula. As someone said if you mix it you can't save it and I do not want that happening since Im already on the low side!
