Anyone else develop Food Allergies?

Has anyone else on here developed new food allergies after becoming pregnant (I've read that it's possible)? If so, how did you determine what your allergy is to? I can't figure out what mine could be yet, other than possibly pepper. It only just begun yesterday. I plan on calling my doctor on Monday (I hate it when bad things happen on weekends) assuming things don't get worse. Tingly and bumpy lips and swollen tongue. I'm only just over 4 weeks along, so I'm amazed that I'm having so many symptoms pop up already. Afternoon nausea like clockwork and almost every other symptom in the books. After having a miscarriage last fall at 5 weeks, I'm trying really hard to welcome all these symptoms with open arms, as I didn't have hardly any of them last time. Thanks in advance!

Elimination and reintroduction is the only way without medical testing. In your case, the symptoms are anaphylactic and I personally WOULD NOT reintroduce what you think is the allergen until talking with your OB.

  • Make sure you get to the dr asap and be very careful of foods you think you may be allergic to... if for any reason you have difficulty breathing or excessive swelling in the lips/tongue get to emergency straight away...

The more you eat what you are allergic to the more serious of a reaction you will have

Hope you get everything sorted :)

  • I developed a gluten sensitivity when pregnant with DS. I still have to be on a 100% gluten free diet. They told me its called post partum gluten sensitivity.
  • Thanks for all of your input. I went to Urgent Care yesterday, but they didn't have the proper doctor available to deal with allergies and pregnancy, so they sent me to the ER. I was told to take more Benadryl and was given an Epi Pen prescription. I still have no idea what brought on the reaction. I'm hoping to get some more insight from my family doctor this afternoon. I will also tell my OB when I call for my bloodwork results from last week.
