So, we're having another girl. Will be a sister to Riley Abigail and Reagan McKenna (our last name has two syllables and begins with a "B"). We've come up with the following names, but I don't feel that definitive "this is it" feeling I felt with the other girls. Here's what we have so far:
- Madison Ripley (my reservations, Madison is uber popular and a place name. Ripley reminds me of "Believe it or Not")
- Brooklyn Mackenzie (my reservations, Brooklyn is a place name and seems to get a lot of flack on online discussion boards, Mackenzie is similar to McKenna)
- Savannah Adeline (my reservations, Savannah is a place name, and is rather popular)
- Cassidy Gracyn (my reservations, I'm not sure if I love the name Cassidy. I picked it because it was similar to Kennedy (which I like a lot), but I couldn't name my child a name that means "ugly head", so Kennedy is out)
- Mackenzie Cheyenne (my reservations, I'm not in love with either name and Mackenzie is becoming rather popular, and is similar to McKenna. Perhaps if I found a middle name I loved with it?)
- Gertrude Savannah (my reservations, well...Gertrude is such an old-fashioned name (it's my grandma's name))
- Cordelia Madison (my reservations, my husband hates the name Cordelia, saying he's never heard it before. I guess I've seen Anne of Green Gables so many times that I have trouble thinking of it as anything other than a beautiful name...I think Cordelia would be my current front-runner, if hubby didn't dislike it so much.)
I'm still open to other names as well. I'm not sure that I've found "the" name for her yet. So, if you have another suggestion, I'd love to hear it! Let me know what you think of the names on my short list as well!
Thanks!
Re: Would like opinions on girl names
Cassidy and savannah would be next.
Mackenzie is last because it's so close to McKenna.
What about Beatrix, Rachelle, or Rosalie?
My husband actually wants all of our girls' name to begin with the letter "R"! I think that's one reason he likes Ripley so much.
Several of these are names that I ruled out because they are already the names of friends/family (or occasionally enemies or those with unpleasant associations). I like Violet and Madeleine, though (and have no associations w/ either of them - except The Incredibles, of course). I'll add them to my list to run by my husband.
Thanks!
I was looking at the popular names - Madison has been in the top 10 since 1997, with the height of popularity about 10 years ago. I didn't realize that Mackenzie had been popular then as well. I always though about it as more of an 1980's sort of name (Mackenzie Phillips from One Day at a Time, Mackenzie Aston from The Facts of Life), but not as saturated as say, Jennifer was in the 1980's.
Thanks everyone for your feedback! I really like to know what people think of the perspective names for our LO. I also like how everyone has been so positive and helpful in their comments (even if you don't like the names). I know I haven't responded to each of your responses personally, but I do appreciate all the replies!
I like Cassidy too! But not Gracyn. Just Cassidy Grace sounds great!
I really don't like any of the other names mentioned.
How about Sydney for a fn? Or Brooke?
I like savannah according to the names of your other girls. I think it fits best

If your husband is set on an R how about Reese?
I've always liked Savannah (ever since I was a little girl). I'm glad to hear you think it works alright with my other girls' names!
I don't think it's problematic at all! In the show she is the epitome of "good." Plus, it's just a silly show anyways.

Do you think Cassidy would sound better with my other girls' names? Riley, Reagan and Cassidy - they're all Irish surnames, so they seem to fit. Would Cordelia stick out like a sore thumb w/ my other girls' names?
Cassidy goes great with the others! Yes, Cordelia sticks out a little... But not enough that if you love the name it should dissuade you from using it.
