Curious to see where everyone stands, and the span of responses...
1) what basic type of insurance plan do you have? (Medicare, HMO, PPO, etc)
2) what is your individual annual deductible? (amount you must pay upfront before any coinsurance or copay kicks in)
3) what is your annual out of pocket maximum per year (the most you'll ever pay in a year outside of the actual cost to subscribe to the plan, assuming you choose in-network doctors who are providing covered services)?
I think limits on coverage were done away with under Aca? We have a 1500 deductible each with a 3k max oop each, with the usual free preventative care.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
1) what basic type of insurance plan do you have? PPO. I have a private pay/individual plan (not through a company/employer)
2) what is your individual annual deductible? $1,000
3) what is your annual out of pocket maximum per year? $3,300. This amount includes my deductible. Once I meet my deductible, it's $2,300.
4) what (if any) is your annual coverage limit? None.
I feel like my coverage sucks, but since husband and I own a small business, we do not have coverage through a traditional employer (and no insurance providers want to provide group insurance to a small business - blah)! I pay $311 a month for my plan.
I'm only on the current plan since we knew I was pregnant during open enrollment, and the premiums were cheaper than the deductible we knew I'd hit with the birth. I'll probably downgrade to a plan with a $1500 deductible and oop max after Peanut arrives, since that plan won't cost me anything, whereas the plan I'm on now costs something (but I can't recall what - less than $1500 a year pre-tax). If Peanut goes on the plan I'm on now, it's pretty freakin expensive.
1) PPO 2) 1500 deductible 3) 3000 max out of pocket. 4) no coverage limit
I pay l lot in each month towards my insurance. My employer will start to contribute more once I've been there two years though. So instead if $200/month it'll be $100/month.
DH just got a new job for a larger employer than I work for. Coverage kicks in around may 1st so baby and I are going on his insurance then because we'll pay less in each month for the same coverage I have now hopefully baby times her arrival well.
I'm covered under my mom's insurance and DH's insurance. I know my mom's is PPO, $500 deductible. DH's is PPO, no idea what the deductible is (he doesn't know either). So don't worry @Jessieann1020, we fail at adulthood too! No idea about OOP max or coverage limits for either plan.
ETA: Now that I think about it, I am guessing our deductible on DH's plan is $1100 per person based on the bills we got for my last delivery and DD's NICU stay. My total bill before insurance was $15,000-$20,000 range and hers was $300,000-$350,000 range. We paid about $1100 in both cases.

All prenatal and maternity care is covered 100%, no copay, except for a $250 copay when I deliver for the hospital stay. Having dh work for the governemnt does have some perks.
I don't know, it's military insurance 2. $150 a year individual deductible, $300 for entire family. 3. $1,000 OOP
Anything maternity is covered 100%, I'll just pay about $17 a day when I'm in the hospital after LO is born. We could do Tricare Prime where everything is covered 100%, but my DS and I would have to go on post to for military doctors. We choose to spend $1000 a year instead and pick our doctors off post.
2) 2500 for the family, but we don't have to meet our deductible before copay.
3) none.
4) none.
We have awesome dual coverage insurance, and we put away pre-tax dollars to cover deductible costs, so we get "reimbursed" for any expenses. I have paid nothing out of pocket so far for this pregnancy.

I believe my plan is an EPO (not sure how that's different from the other ones listed), 300 deductible, 2400 out of pocket max. No coverage limit as far as I know.

Had our first baby, Samuel Robert, on April 17, 2014!
2. Will be $4,000 when I add the new baby. Becomes $400 after employer contribution (see below).
3. Will be $8,000 when I add the new baby (see below).
4. $0
My employer puts $3,600 into my HSA (assuming I participate in wellness initiatives) so my deductible is effectively $400. The plan pays 100% of medical costs after the ded is hit, so the OOP max could only be attained with astronomical RX costs.

Also, can I say that I think it's crazy that some of y'all can still be on your parents insurance? I don't get that at all.
I dont think its crazy. I think its crazy that it used to be right after you were done with college you were dropped from your parents insurance (even though some companies gave small grace periods) and these fresh college grads had to find jobs quickly to get their insurance back. Now THATS crazy.
I think it's a little crazy that presumably independent adults who are having children of their own are still on their parents insurance, but whatever. You're right the other extreme wasn't exactly ideal.
Mama to a little girl born July 2011 and a little boy born April 2014!
Why did I forget about the HSA? I've been putting enough in each paycheck to cover my oop max. I'm so excited I just remembered that and won't have to take that money out of our savings when the baby is born!!

That was exactly what I meant. I think it's one thing to have young adults with no families on parental insurance, but it's a bit different once you're married and having kids.
Yeah, when i got out of college i had to find a job with benefits fast so i didn't have a lapse in insurance. I had to find one by February and got a job in January. It was stressful!
