A few people are wondering what to get DS for his birthday, and I was thinking about a play kitchen. He loves being in our kitchen and making a mess with all the Tupperware. Do you have any recommendations on which one to get or which ones to avoid?
Don't flame me but I never though of a play kitchen for DS because it seems girly but do the boys like them too?? I was actually looking for a play house but I guess that isn't too far off from a play kitchen.

DS loves playing with ours, and so do all of DD's boy friends.
Also, I have never understood why kitchens are seen as "girly." Doesn't everyone eat food and cook??

I want my boy to COOK! My husband can cook and I love it. So sexy.

I wish I knew if people will give DS the kitchen and an activity cube - the ones on Zulily today are adorable! Someone should post next time they are on Zulily again... I better wait this time to see what gifts he gets.
My ds loves his kitchen! He makes us food all the time. Here's my plug for ikea again- but they also sell soft cloth food that is different from the plastic food and is healthier - veggies, fish, etc.
Kitchens are great for boys! ...bobby flay... I have a set that my grandfather made for me when I was little. I love the wooden sets for inside and plastic for outside.
we have the fisher price grow with me kitchen. It is nice because it has 2 heights you can set it at and is very easy to put together. it is small enough that it doesn't take up too much space either and it sturdy enough for DS to pull up on without toppling over.
I didn't check what type of kitchens everyone else posted but this is the one we have by Little Tikes. It has the "manly" BBQ on the side Our DS loves his. We gave it to him when he was about 1.5. He's always saying "supper's ready" and bringing us random food (usually his rubber duck in a pan. Maybe he thinks it's a chicken??)
Oooo great thread. I was having trouble deciding whether to do a kitchen, grill, or tool table but I really want to do a kitchen now. I was also concerned about it being too early but I think for Christmas this year it would be great.
Ours isn't anchored, but it's also not super tall. It's quite sturdy. We got it when DD was 14 months and DS plays with it now. They've both pulled up on it a lot and never toppled it. You might have more of an issue with some of the plastic ones. Ours is wooden: https://www.moolka.com/jzv/prod?o=froogle&prodId=24235&gclid=CKP5g_a26rwCFVLxOgodySkA5g
@phill027 ours isn't anchored but DS has never toppled it over. It's quite "bottom heavy," for lack of a better word. DD is into everything DS is so she plays with what she can reach, fridge, baskets of food, oven and dishwasher. She loves opening and closing the doors.
