Baby Names

Baby boy name - opinions please!

We are 20 weeks and recently found out we are having a boy (yay!) so the baby name game has begun. Drysdale is a family name and will definitely be the middle name (goes way back as a middle name on hubby's side of the fam). What do you think of these 2 ideas? Or do you have any other suggestions? I'm looking for something off beat but not too trendy:

Oscar Drysdale Green
Hudson Drysdale Green

Re: Baby boy name - opinions please!

  • I think they are both a little trendy, but not too popular. I like them both though. They flow well with the MN and LN. My DS1's MN is Oscar, so I especially like that one. It's also my grandfather's name.

  • Hudson is way trendy, so I suggest you skip that one. Oscar is nice.

Other possibilities in (IMO) a similar vein that come to mind:

    Otto
    Hugh
    Asher
    Iver
    Walter
    Angus
    Hector
    August

  • I'm loving Oscar!
  • I like Oscar too but DH still needs convincing. He hasn't vetoed the name yet (like he did with a few others I suggested) but he's still far more "team Hudson". This will need some massaging.... Any pointers for those that got their hubbies to see the light on an awesome name??
  • You won't regret either of those names, they are both solid. But I do prefer Oscar. It'll be hard to stop Hudson from becoming "Hud" at some point, and I think that's a terrible nn.

Are you guys planning on using nicknames at all? If so, I think Ozzie is such a cute nickname for Oscar. Maybe DH will like that idea. I know my husband would...being a huge fan of Black Sabbath, haha.

  • @jasi705 I'd definitely use Ozzie or Oz as a nickname. Super cute. And @mnerani, yeah, I don't love Hud as a nickname but it's probably inevitable :-S . Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Fingers crossed I can convince DH. At least I have 4 more moths to work on him!
  • I really like Oscar
