Hannah was born on February 17th at 11:47pm, 19.75 inches and 6.5 pounds.
Around 9:00pm on the 16th I started having contractions 5-10 min apart; we timed them for an hour, but this had been happening every evening for the last two weeks, so I didn't think that it was serious. I was sitting on the couch talking with DH and my brother at 10:20, when my water broke. The hospital said to wait an hour, to make sure it wasn't from the baby kicking me in the bladder. Of course, an hour later more fluid gushes out, so another change of pants and then off to the hospital. We were admitted around 12:30 and the contractions started getting a LOT more painful. Started with the IV drugs and a jacuzzi bath, but the drugs only last 15 minutes before the pain starts coming back. Moved from there to the nitrus, which worked, but it felt like I was struggling to breathe and hyperventilating, even though the oxygen censor showed that I was getting enough oxygen. I ended up getting the epidural, and even though it wasn't part of my birth plan, I am very happy that I did it. Unfortunately there was meconium in the amniotic fluid, and at one point I got a fever, so they gave us antibiotics. After 24 hours of labor Hannah Shira entered the world!
We're super tired and working on the feeding, but very happy. Yay baby!
