Still concern about my ob/gyn...

I chooses my ob/gyn long time ago before I got pregnant. I'm working in a field where I'm taking our clients to different ob/gyn to regular check-ups, ultrasounds, etc. Plus, my friend (ex-client) delivered a baby with this ob/gyn and I was there as well. So I already know that I'll chose this one, and thanks God my insurance is covering this doc & hospital.

I went to my 1st prenatal exam at 8 weeks. All what he did is weighed me & gave me some info. Honestly, I was waiting him much longer (about an hour) then I was actually there in exam room (10 mins).
He said to come back at 10 weeks and told me that he'll do all other test on my next visit.

On 2nd visit he weighted me and took to exam room. Was trying to hear a baby heart for about 10 mins, nothing, says that it's a little change of 10% to hear it so he'll try to do this again on my 3rd visit. Asked me if I have any concerns and since I do a lot (back hurting, sleepiness, can't eat and so on), he said that everything is ok if there is no blooding I'm fine. I know that it's all ok and individual by each women but at least I need something, like a good advice or so on. He was done with be in like 20 mins, thanks God I didn't waited him this time.
He just set me an appointment with other doc to do the Down Syndrome test and something else. And set me a next appt in a month.
That's all! I know that he is very professional, he charge double of what other ob/gyn usually charged for delivery. He us very old and I know that my 2nd one I won't deliver with him. But he is not carrying at all. I know that I can survive but I really wish to go to different one for a 2nd opinion.

Sorry for a such long story. But my question is what kind of ob/gyn you chooses and why? Are they carrying ones or same as mine? Do they advise you with anything? And tell me what did you do on you very 1st and 2nd prenatal exam?

Thanks ya'll!

  • I was seeing a specialist so was able to get an ultrasound and see the heartbeat with her at 6 weeks. I went to my OBGYN at 7 weeks with some cramping and they did another ultrasound, everything looked good. I had my first "official" prenatal appointment with my OBGYN yesterday and she did a pap smear, urine culture, blood work, breast exam, pelvic exam, and then used the doppler to hear the heartbeat. It took her a while to find it but I was so relieved she did! If you're not comfortable with your OB, definitely switch.
