microfiber inserts

Does anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't just make covers for my mf inserts (the ones that came with my pocket diapers) out of old 100% cotton tshirts so I don't have to touch that stuff?  I would stuff them with my prefolds but that just adds way to much bulk and gaps at legs.

I think it wouldn't negatively affect absorbency so I guess the main question is would it affect washing?

Since it's not costing me anything, I made covers for my inserts.  Much more hand friendly now.  Ask me sometime later how the idea holds up with use.
