HA!! Fooled You Didnt I

So I've been waiting for "The Call" all week for my PGD results. On pins and needles I might add. I finally get the call from my RE. He starts the conversation off really slow, going over all the details (again) from my ER and my FERT report. Then he says, I just wanted to check in on you, and let you know the lab is running additional tests for a more comprehensive look at your embryos (WTF does that mean??)...so we should know more in about a week. (I swear I heard evil laughing coming through the phone). Then he says... So as soon as we get the details we can move forward with setting up your transfer.

Is this a cruel joke? He called me to say "Fooled You Didnt I"...  I got so flustered. I didnt want to tell him me and my nurse are already in cahoots with each other and set the date. I mean all Im doing now is taking BCP so waiting one more week for results doesn't really change much. I just hate... let me spell that out H.A.T.E. waiting and being in the dark. But I guess I should be use to it by now. I just called DH to have a bottle of wine on chill. I'll happily suck that down when I get off work. 

Okay... Rant Over... Jaz Out.

Oh man - that sucks.  I know that they want to make sure everything is good and they're communicating and everything - but that's just kind of mean to call and not have anything to say.  I'm so sorry.  (Enjoy your wine!)

Ugh, so frustrating!!! How long have they been out for testing? I'm sorry I don't know your story
My lab does next day results. I'd lose my mind waiting another week.

@ironmom2be the last company my clinic used did faster results but there were too many reports of MC so my clinic stopped using that company. The current one is cross country, and sets up a DNA profile for both parents before taking embryo samples and a whole bunch of extra stuff that I'm not really qualified to explain. I'm okay with the wait now... It's just at the time I was expecting the results. My RE is really the best, I like him a lot. I know he was just trying to keep me in the loop and check in. His timing was just bad... Everything is good now that I have my wine.

This is very strange! PGD results can come out in 24hrs!!

Part of the wait had to with transit to the lab. (MD to CA). I just talked to a rep and they said they provide results within 5-7 business days. Samples were sent on Monday but were just received yesterday. I'm okay now. My RE did request Translocation/Inversion tests with 24 Chromosome Aneuploidy testing.

That is brutal. Excruciating!!! I'm so sorry you're left in limbo even longer, but I hope it's good news you're headed towards. Enjoy your wine, dear!

Ugh!!! Why do re's do that?! It's like they enjoy the agony of making us be patient.

Hopefully you get your transfer underway a little faster than your RE led you to believe today.

Oh man, that is so frustrating!!  Sorry you're stalled another week.

I'm glad you're at peace with it now! I'm finally not on mobile and can see your siggy. We had similar #s. Last cycle I had 39R, 25F and 13 blasts were biopsied! This time I had 49R, 28F and I'll know over the weekend how many were biopsied. I'm hopeful for a fresh ET on Monday (after Sunday's biopsy) I think my lab does PGD in house (it's a satellite lab for one of the larger PGD labs in NJ) so nothing travels. My H and I were talking about that, though...how do they send them (especially in your case across the country?) DO they FedEx them?? If you know, please share...I'm quite curious.
At any rate, I'm keeping everything crossed for you to receive positive news in the next week! FX!

How mean!!! We just got our CGH results yesterday (they were biopsied on Monday) My RE said the results would take 1-2 weeks. I called the nurse yesterday and she said she was hoping they'd be there by Monday morning. I was thrilled with the idea of Monday! Then, she called me about 30 minutes later and said she JUST got them. I'm hoping yours come in soon! I would be so annoyed to get a phone call just saying "we're still working on it"...!? wtf?!

@ironmom2be We also had ours shipped out but in our case... they take a biopsy (a sample) of the 5 day blast and send that to the outsourced lab! Then, they freeze the embryo in the lab. The sample results tell them which embryos are normal or not...

Your guess is as good as mine... I would assume FEDEX. and Im not sure if the samples are cryo'd or "preserved" some sort of way, and that may add to the time it takes to get results back as well, since they have to thaw the samples first. This PGD is just so much different from my last experience. On my first cycle, samples were biopsied on day 3 or day 4, and we got results back in time for day 5 transfer. But this time, with the new lab. Both DH and I had to send DNA samples ahead of time so they could analyze our genetics first... and they do a lot of cross reference from the embryo samples, to our DNA samples. (All of this process is new to me)

SKLH, same here... the embryo doesnt go to the lab just the sample.

@jaztaz1 But I HAVE shipped embryos via FEDEX with a tracking number and all hahahahaha BIZARRE!

We were told the results were much  more accurate when done on day 5 even though it stalled the option of a fresh transfer. I always feel REALLY crummy after ER so I was honestly 100% fine with a freeze all! Now I can kinda focus on one thing at a time, ya know!?

@SKLH Really??!! That is nuts lol!! 

I was told the same thing about the Day 5 biopsy. I get you 100%. I am delayed 6 weeks but Im hoping that the results from the testing (delay) will mean the difference between coming home with a baby or not. So if 6 wks is the price to pay... so be it.

@jaztaz1 I agree! I have NO problem waiting. It's honestly a nice break from the meds (at least for a few days that is!) ha! Hoping your results are back soon and they are the perfect amount of embies for you!
