Emmet vs Emmett

Traditionally I've only heard of Emmett but now (don't laugh) the character on the new Lego movie is named Emmet. Is Emmet incomplete? Is the extra "T "in Emmett superfluous? What is more popular with the Bumpies?

Emmett with the 2 ts looks complete to me. Just like Elliott and Everett.

I like Emmett, it looks more symmetrical. I'm also the type of person that likes to eat 2 m&ms/skittles at a time so I can have one on each side of my mouth. And I like the skittles to be the same color.... $:\$ ">
