moms who pump at work (?s)

What all is in your bag/area?

How many bottles do you take?

Tell.me how to make this the most streamlined experience possible.

I have breast pads, snacks, pump wipes, oil to lube my nipples. What else??

::cue panic for tomorrow::

Take a small towel with you, instead of using nipple wipes I clean myself with a small towel, also you can put it on your legs so you won't dirty up your clothes if something falls.
A handsfree breast pump bra, that way I can check my Facebook or return calls while pumping.
A ziplock bag to put the pump parts between pumping sessions.
I got a bunch of breast milk containers on ebay, forgot how they're call, but anyways I have like 20 of them and I just take them to work on mondays and leave it there for the whole week, I use the medela bottles that came with my pump to collect the milk and then drop it on these containers to take home.
Also take an ice pack to put on the bag where you'll store the milk, If you have a long commute is the best way to keep milk at a good temperature.

  • How do you return phone calls? My pump seems so loud! I have the ziploc bags, and lunch bag for days I travel.

  • I take 5 bottles because there are times when I am able to pump more than one bottle will hold (I consolidate after each session and I pump 3x/day).

Don't forget the cooler and ice pack.

I also bring a burp cloth to dry off my breasts and clean any spills.

You may want to consider a hands free pump bra so you can do other things.

  • I pumped into four bottles each day, and then brought home the bottles in a cooler, and then pour the bottles into a jug in my refrigerator every night. On Friday night I freeze the jug milk into individual bags. I know some people rotate in fresh milk. But I don't think that is necessary, since the baby is getting fresh milk from my boobs two or three times a day. I sent the frozen bags to day care in bulk and they made the bottles. In addition to pumping twice a day at work I pumped in the morning before work and before bed.

    My Charts since 2009

  • I have the 2 bottles I pump into then keep a box of storage bags in my pumping area. Other than that, I have wet wipes, pics of LO, and bottles of water. I also have large ziplock bags so I can store pump parts in the fridge.

  • For those of y'all that put parts in a ziploc in the fridge, do you rinse them first or just put them straight into the bag?
  • I have the Medela and it's a little loud but I can squeeze a call when I need to, I just don't need to have the pump so close to me. I don't have lunch breaks at work so when I need to make an urgent call I make my pump session worth.

  • I take 4-6oz bottles that I pack in the cooler it came with. I also have my pumping bra, nipple cream and a magazine or book. I also like to take my phone to go on the internet and to time my pumping.

I always rinse and then wipe dry since I don't keep them cold. I don't want LO sick or mastitis

  • I just packed my bag for tomorrow - pump, bottles and lids, cooler pack, pumping bra, and that's it. I'm only going in for a half day.

  • Oh good call on the burp cloth and wipes. There's always that leftover milk in the flange that inevitably spills all over your pants. Love that.

  • Hi, @soozerella ! Did you happen to see the post I tagged you in (actually on j14) about milk blisters/ blebs? Am I recalling accurately you dealt with one?

Anyways, the boys are good. the big one has an attitude that drives me to drink. Thankfully, he loves little brother so much it melts my heart. Hoyt is smiling and such a happy baby. I'm going to be lost without my side kick! I tried updating my sight, and couldn't figure out how. Then tinypic wouldn't upload my picture. Sad trombone.

In addition to above, I keep a nursing cover in my bag. The office they offerred me has a lock, but they were not sure who all had a key.
  • @soozerella I haven't been able to update it yet!
