Progress Report… Im feeling Bittersweet

So I had my ER on Tuesday 2/11…

40 Follies Retrieved

31 Mature

25 Fertilized

 

Fast Forward to Day 5… 15 remaining blasts were biopsied and frozen.  I’m feeling bittersweet. I know 15 frosties is amazing!! I shouldn’t be complaining or upset at all… However when you have PGD testing done, that number can go down so quickly… I am not at the place where I want to risk transferring blasts that come back with genetic miscues in the hopes that everything works itself out. So now Im on pins and needles…I really want enough good ones to have 3 solid FET attempts.  Its no longer in my hands so Im trying hard to let go and relax.

In other news, I woke up this morning with some spotting which tells me AF is ON THE WAY!! Im so happy, because the sooner I can call CD1, the sooner I can get started with my FET cycle.

15 frosties sounds like a dream to me! Even after the PGD screens some out, the odds should leave you with enough for a few FETs

@RunCC37 You are right... I think about people like you and know I should feel much better but I just got that feeling in the pit of my stomach you know. My first fresh cycle I lost about 40% of my embies after PGD. So Im a little freaked out. But I cant do anything but take one day at a time.

40% of 15 is 6 which leaves you with 9 That sounds awesome to me! Don't you wish we could just fast forward a few days to get the results?! I have found the few days waiting for fert reports to be far worse than any 2ww I've ever gone through. When do you get your results?

15 frosties is a great number, even if you loose 40% after PGD, that would still leave you with 9 frosties, which is still amazing. 

I know it's hard not to stress and worry, but try not to.  Your cycle is looking amazing right now, try to relax and enjoy the good news.

@RunCC37 Im laughing at myself because I probably sound like such a spaz cat right now. "OHHH THE WORLD IS ENDING" at least that what it feels like in my head. I swear these IF drills take bits of our insanity day by day. I should get results back by Thursday.

I think many people would be happy to have nine retrieved, let alone nine frosties. I see nothing to freak about, although I understand we all freak in this process.

15 is a good number to work with. Many people would die for that many.  Its great you can do PGD bc you have so many. Hoping they come back healthy.

DH has Translocation so PGD is pretty much mandatory. RE strongly advises against us doing a transfer without it (damn near refuses to let us do it). I know 15 is a lot... but when you have to push your body so hard to get high numbers to start out with its devastating watching them dwindle down so fast. My first IVF at ER I had 53 Follies... and ended up with 0 babies. So paranoia set in after my day 5 update call.

@jaztaz1 - I can imagine how stressful it must be worrying about your little embies dwindling down.  Our worry never seems to end.  Try to stay positive - we are all rooting for you! Fingers crossed tight

I just sent 9 for testing and I'm ESTATIC! lol But I know translocation is a whole different ballgame. Since we doing CGH testing my RE will only allow me to transfer 1. If you end up with 40% back that's 9 transfers!! Holy cow!
