Baby Names

My middle name as baby's first name?

We are having a hard time picking a girl name, but my husband likes my middle name - Leah. Would it be weird to use it as a first name for LO?

Re: My middle name as baby's first name?

  • I don't think it's weird but I wouldn't do it. There are so many names and I prefer for my LO to have her own unique name.

  • I don't think it's weird.  My MN is Ann and though I wouldn't use it, I'd use Anna.
  • Not weird of you both like it.

  • Nope not weird
  • I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't think it's weird and I know someone IRL who just named her daughter her middle name.

  • I say go for it. 99% of the world doesn't know it's your middle name and those that do will probably like the family connection.
This exactly. And it's a legit, lovely name.
  • I don't think it's weird at all. I think Leah is a great name :)

  • I don't think it's weird at all, but.. I was going to do this with DD#1 because I really love my middle name, in the end we picked a different name and I'm glad we did because now that I'm expecting my second girl I would've felt bad that one child got a part of my name and the other one did not. But that's just how I feel about it
That being said though, I think Leah is a beautiful name :)

  • My mom did this with my older sister and I've never heard anyone call it weird. I think it gives them a nice connection, to be honest, and the name suits her perfectly.

I wouldn't side-eye it just for being your middle name, and I like the name Leah anyway.

  • Thanks ladies! Really appreciate the feedback. We'll leave it on the list as a possibility then.

  • Not strange at all & Leah is a gorgeous name.

  • I don't think it's weird - my aunt's FN was my grandmother's MN (mine too, before marriage - it was carried through many generations of the family).  And I like Leah a lot.
