Anyone watching? I don't think I like how some of the athletes are walking out with their cell phones out taking pictures or videoing. Also, I loved how the announcer was talking about the alphabet in Russia and said "if you want to know more about it, google it."
I'm watching. Some of the team uniforms are cool, but some are not. Those women who escort out the teams look weird and futuristic. I agree that all of the camera phone pics take away from it, but I guess the athletes might feel like this could be a once in a lifetime thing, so they want to capture the moment.
And am I the only one who cries during that P&G moms commercial?
The escorts costumes remind me of the hunger games. I get the athletes taking pictures, but I wish they didnt have them themselves, especially since there are so many other pictures being taken.
I caught a few minutes. We turned it on right before the Russians come out. I am having a hard time watching it knowing the issues that are behind the scenes so to speak. The point of the opening ceremonies are kind of to dazzle, and impress, and all I can think of is the poor accommodations, and all the other bad things associated with it.
The projections are amazing, but some of the set pieces really make me question.... The "sun" the followed the horses looked like a giant flaming anus to me. When the buildings floated up they looked like giant colorful condoms.

I do not like team USAs sweaters. DH commented that it was Ralph Lauren, what did I expect.
I'm hoping there is something awesome after they finish announcing the athletes.

On Russian tv they apparently cut to footage from last night's rehearsal where all opened and they had pyrotechnics.
