  • I take huge offense to the word mutt. Meh...
  • I'm 25% Norwegian and hubby is 25% Czech. Neither of us have any idea about the other 75%, but given that we're both super pale and blonde, I think there's a lot of Northern European in us.

I'm really sorry, Jan. I admit I didn't even think about the term when I was typing.

Ditto. I forgot some people find that offensive, but I'm talking about myself so I didn't think it was a biggie. Fixed to say mix.
  • I'm a mix of british, scot, irish and native american, DH is british and dutch.

  • @34blondie Awe, that stinks! Apparently the Cherokee Nation recognizes much lower percentage as long as you can track your lineage and everyone before you is registered. My grandmother and mom are so hoping there's not a problem getting mine. Only thing is that the wait is FOR-EV-VERRRR. It can take up to 2 years I think.
  • We're a mutt family: I'm 1/4 Puerto Rican, 1/4 Italian, 1/2 unknown (assumed Russian/Polish). Hubs is 1/2 Polish, 1/2 a mix of Dutch, Syrian and English.

I'm originally a CT girl, he is originally NY, but his dad got transferred around a bit when he was a kid, so he's lived in a few places. We're now borderline CT/NY (seriously, two blocks to the state border).

  • I'm 100% Portuguese raised in NJ, he's a mix of Irish and Scottish raised in UT.
  • I'm Irish, Scottish (maiden name is McDaniel), Welsh, 4th generation Austrian German, and Native American.  Were not sure what tribe.  I still have relatives in Austria.  H is Irish, German, Native American.  I believe they said that his biological paternal great grandfather was Osage.  We are both pretty pale like the Irish, but I can hold a tan like nobody's business.

  • Me: American, raised in New York, mix of Italian (but more likely middle eastern based on name and some research into where my Grandparents could have really been from), Irish, Alsatian, Scottish, German and English.
DH: American, raised in Mass., mix of Irish, French Canadian and Russian Jewish. He looks like a whitey Mcwhite boy like his mom. Funny story, growing up he actually thought his dad was black because he was so tan and dark skinned compared to his mom and the rest of the North Shore. He saw a mixed race couple on TV and told his mom, "look, it's like our family!" and she had to have a talk with him about daddy not being black. Not that that would have been a problem or something, just, he was Jewish!

  • My father's parents were Czech, my mother's side is a whole bunch of things, all of which I'm not too sure about. My husband is 50% Irish and he thought 50% Italian. Turns out his aunt and mother were adopted as babies and not from the same family (which they didn't find out until they were 45ish and 50 years old respectively and their mother had already passed...seriously). His mother was born in Canada, but she doesn't know her background at all. Funny thing is I never thought his aunt looked like the family at all, but his mother does.

  • @workinit - he is from right outside Kalamazoo! Most of his family is either near Kazoo or Grand Rapids. I have never been! But supposedly we're going up for Christmas this year!

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • So confession, jokingly and in private we can Lo our little Aryan baby too. But with us it's an ironic joke because, well, he's more Jewish than German and his last name is straight up Jewish. He is just so blue eyed and fair that it's hard to believe he has a very dark mom and a grandpa who was presumed to be black.
I would never ever call him that outside of our house or without laughing afterwards!
