Baby Aspirin and Calcium Carbonate

I had my first OB appt today and since she knew my history with hypertension from my last pregnancy, she recommended that I take baby aspirin and calcium carbonate for the rest of my pregnancy in hopes of reducing the risk of it happening again.  Has anyone else`s dr ordered this?

    Yeah, but you really are supposed to start before 12 weeks with the BA. The studies only show it to help when started early in the pregnancy
    IF DX: DOR & Fragile X pre-mutation carrier
    2011: FSH 13.3 & E 99; AMH 0.54 2nd FSH 6.2 E 40's AFC: 8
    BFP from Clomid/IUI ~ Pre-e and IUGR during pregnancy ~ DS born 9/4/12
    Feb./March 2013: AMH less than 0.16 (undectable) and AFC = 4;
    BFP from supps ~ DS#2 due May 2014

    I'm from Canada... we see our GP until third tri.

    She mentioned that the studies said that it's normally started earlier, but wanted me to do it anyway just in case.

    I would go ahead and do it. It is not going to hurt.

    That's the plan. Wish I had known about it sooner... but that's all I can do now.

    Disclaimer: I am NOT an OB.

    However, I am a pharmacist and I have to seriously side-eye this rec. Baby aspirin isn't going to do anything to prevent hypertension. If anything, it'd be dangerous to take as a pregnant person unless you have a clotting issue of some kind because aspirin is a blood-thinner in addition to its pain relieving properties. Calcium won't be able to help with this either. Not that calcium is bad to take in pregnancy, seeing as baby is taking all the minerals and may not be leaving much behind for your bones, but it's probably not going to affect your blood pressure. Maybe seek a second opinion??
