Ughhhh. He keeps spitting up!

It doesn't phase him at all, but he keeps spitting.  Every single time I have fed him today he has spit up, and he spits up between feedings too.  Even with a bib we have changed his outfit 4 times today!  We have tried keeping him upright, etc...and nothing has worked.  It is getting to the point where I'm getting nervous that I'm overfeeding him!  He seems to be hungry every hour or two, does this seem right?  It has all been EBF from me other than 2 4 oz. bottles of EBM, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

  • I'm glad you asked this Lucy, cause DD has been doing the same thing the past 3 days. She never did it before, but we are having many outfit changes during the day too.

  • ds seems to have days like this and i think it depends on what i eat. he also was diagnosed about 4 weeks ago with reflux after the spitting up became everything he ate and he was never satisfied, as well as not eating and just screaming. even on meds, he still has days of spitting up a lot and some days of barely spitting up. he does seem hungrier more often on the days he spits up more. yesterday he spit up a ton all day and i felt like i was feeding him every 1-2 hours or less. i pretty much wear a burp cloth and put one under ds's face everywhere he goes on those days, and warn everyone who wants to hold him that they will likely get spit up on. i haven't found anything that makes the spitup better, but i have started to pay attn more to what i eat (chinese or fried food is a no-no, and these yummy asiago-spinach sausages are too).

sorry no advice, hope it gets better.

  • Isn't it annoying?  DS went through a period of spitting up all the time too.  It didn't matter if he had recently eaten or not, something still came up every few minutes.  It didn't seem to bother him, so I didn't really worry and it pretty much went away eventually.  I would say it lasted about a week or two.
  • Thanks for your experiences!  I'm trying to think of what I may have eaten differently yesterday...the only thing I can think of was that I had 3 sips of champagne.  Somehow I don't think that was it.  LOL.  He has always been a spitter (his pedi didn't think it was reflux), but today has just been out of control!  And PP you're right...some days are way better than others.  Yesterday wasn't bad at all, actually.
