After a miscarriage...

Do you ovulate or just get AF? My first miscarriage was natural and then we followed my Hcg down to 0...but I don't remember the protocol after that. This time I had a D & C and my levels were 192 this weekend, so I'm almost to zero. Will I get my period when it gets to 0 or does that start a regular CD1 and I'll ovulate? I'm curious because I asked my dr if we should try to prevent a natural bfp (HA) during the time when we're waiting for recurrent miscarriage results. He said I'd be monitored closely and it wouldn't be possible. That makes me think I'll go on the pill as soon as my levels are 0? Just confused and waiting to ask the dr because I have a feeling they'll be like 'we aren't there yet'. :o) Thanks!

Our healthy baby girl was born 03/10/15 thanks to daily Lovenox injections and baby aspirin. There are no words for how grateful I am for our rainbow baby. <3

    I know that with my d&c, it took about 5 weeks but I got my period when my level dropped pretty low. It was a short cycle.
    My girlfriend got pregnant after hers before she even got her period so I think it's possible for the D&C to act like it would be a period and then ovulation would follow when you would typically ovulate. I'm not sure everyone is like this, though. I know that I was too scared to try before my dr cleared me so I didn't but my girlfriend was ready to go again and she now has a healthy 3 year old!

    After both of mine my levels have gotten to or near zero--takes longer than one would think--then I ovulate, then AF comes as usual. Not sure what your doctor is planning to do with you, so I'd clarify. FWIW, my doctor assured me that the research did not support poor outcomes for those who got pregnant again right away. They put me on the BCP on CD3 after my period came.

    Everyone is different.  I had a D&C with my MC and it took a long of time to get AF.  I was not monitored.  My doc performed the procedure I came in a couple weeks later for her to see where I was at, but I bleed (tmi) for 2 weeks.  My D&C was October 16th and I did not get AF until about the 1st week of Dec.  I was immediately ready to cycle again so she let me start on BCP and I did a FET as quickly as possible.  So I dont know if you ovulate normally after a D&C cause I did not monitor.  I wish you all the luck and healing in the world.  I would not wish what you are going thru on anyone in the world!  ((hugs))

    Just as a side note, you may have a new normal after your MC (AF wise), I have only had AF a couple times since but it has changed dramatically (for the worse for me).

    Everyone is different... I did not ovulate until after I got AF.... I charted so I could see what was going on...of course my body was so whacky the chart could have been wrong but I don't think I did.

    Sono- TWINS!!!!

    I had a d and c with some minor bleeding from that. Then, exactly 4 weeks later, I got a period.
