Increase in oz?

As LO gets older what's the most she'll typically take of pumped bm? I heard the milk changes so they don't increase their intake but my DD seems to be going up. She used to only do 3-4 but now, she's 3 1/2 months, she'll do 4-5 with an occasional 6. 5 used to make her vomit because it was so much. Anyone with older babies, what was the most yours would take?

  • My girls are 6.5 mos and take 3oz normally, sometimes 4.

  • DS is 6 months and doesn't usually take much more than 4. Usually less. Depends on how often we feed him.

  • DD STTN (8-5) so she eats a lot during the day. Each bottle is 3 or 4 ounces but she has done 5 after a long nap on occasion. She's 5 months.

My LO bumped up to 5 oz bottles when she started STTN at about 4 months. It has plateaued there ever since, and she's 9 months now. I think there are a lot of variables. Some babies are more active, eat either more or less often than others which will also affect oz per feed, etc. It will never get as high as a FF baby, but 5 oz seems reasonable to me. ETA: I've always used the slowest flow nipples and paced feedings.

  • Mostly 4 oz, during growth spurts she's taking 5-6 but then she went back down after the spurt was over.

  • LO peaked at 5oz.  I send 5oz bottles to daycare (he only takes two bottles while I'm away), and he'll most likely eat one whole bottle, and then 2 or 3oz out of the other one.   But he's a bit of a weirdo when it comes to not eating straight from the source.

  • The max they will take in a 24 hour period is about 35 oz, but as they get older they will eat larger meals less frequently because their stomachs are bigger and can handle more. This is per my LC.
