"Drinking" from sippy cup?

I saw on the BM/formula versus solids post that some of your LO's are drinking BM from a sippy. I give O a sippy cup everyday but he just chews on it, and gets pissed when the juice goes in his mouth. He's been bottle fed since birth since he was too little to latch - plus I apparently have huge nipples - who knew?

Anywho - I only give him a bit since he never drinks it... How much are you all filling your cups? Maybe he's just not tipping it enough to get the juice? Any suggestions?

  • Have you tried a straw cup so he doesn't have to tip it?

  • I second the above ^ My LO doesn't do so well with a sippy cup. She's much better with straws.

  • DD just today for the first time started actually using her supply cup on het Own. I've always just put a couple ounces of water in it, but once I start her on cows milk ill put it in that.

  • Yeah try the straw cup.  We started DS with the regular sippy cup and the only way he can get any is if we hold it and tip it for him.  But once we gave him the straw cup he figured it out pretty much right away.

I usually just put water in it and he only ever takes 3-4 good sips out of it.

  • We have been having sippy cup issues. We have tried dr browns, Tommee tippee, a straw cup, and nubby. He could drink from the nubby but learned to just bite down and it woul just flow. This resulted in him choking or wearing it all. Finally I bought a nuk one and he finally got it! It has a soft spout that they suck on kin if like a bottle.
