How Did You Get Here?

1st month trying? PGAL? Oops? Tell me how you ended up as an October 2014 mama...

My story:

DH and I were actively trying for 8 months and just over a year total. We got our first BFP in December 2012 the same day the infertility clinic called to set up my appointment!

We announced to our families on Christmas Day at 6 weeks exactly - but miscarried the next day :( We were obviously devistated, but decided to try again right away with my doctor's approval.

We bought some peridot earrings that I wear every day for my little August Baby and we were just getting ready to settle in for another stretch of TTC when low and behold we got our positive!

Despite being nervous, I'm trying to savor every moment of this pregnancy and with any luck this will be our take home baby!

DH and I decided to throw away the BC pills about 6 months ago, but then had to delay our plans when I found out I had to take antibiotics for four months. Fast forward to January and being off my meds. We got pregnant our first cycle, and here we are.

With my daughter, I got pregnant our second cycle charting so decided to chart again this time. We actually never did anything to prevent pregnancy but it took 16 months after her birth before I got a period back. (I breastfed her for 18 months so that's why it took so long.) We have been charting since Sept and got a bfp on our 5th cycle charting.

My story is pretty much in my novel of a signature below. We feel so blessed to be here now because I really thought ivf was our likely option due to DH's spermies.

My husband and I decided to start trying March of 2013. We're both young and have several fertile friend, so we thought we were going to get pregnant right away. Boy was I wrong. I found the bump and started charting right away.I don't know if this has any correlation but this bfp cycle was the only cycle I drank green tea before O. Any who, here I am! Totally excited, first pregnancy for me.

My husband and I started TTC in August '12 and got pregnant on the first cycle. We m/c at 7.5 weeks. At that point we decided to move to Australia (job opportunity) and with our new maternity coverage, we had to wait a year to TTC again. This time, it took 2 cycles to get pregnant and hoping for our first baby!

We just had DS2 last year and I start nursing school next year so we were not planning to have #3 right now. We went out of town for New Years and I realized that I had no birth control with me so I called my Ob office to call some in. By the time I got it and realized they had called in the wrong thing it was Friday evening and too late to fix. I told DH we just needed to be really careful this month. I charted and thought I had ovulated but I was not temping so I was going by other signs. Apparently, I was wrong about when I O'd. We are quickly adjusting plans but we are excited.

I had our DD in January of 2013.  After about 3 months back on the same bc I was on for years before getting pg, I was hating it.  I discussed other options with my dr and we decided that since DH and I wanted to try for #2 in the late summer of 2014 it would be best not to try to find a bc that I would be satisfied with and just use NFP.

I had had 3 wonky cylces off bc and decided I'd better start temping to help ensure we were being extra cautious.  Well, apparently I suck at deciphering my chart because here we are.  I had no other signs (including neg OPK's) of ovulation but FF gave me cross hairs for the morning after we DTD.  I knew we had a pretty good chance of being here.  Even though this wasn't our perfect timing, we know it was God's perfect timing and we're getting more and more excited.

DH and I wanted to wait until DS 1st birthday to start trying for baby 2. He turns 1 next week, so we started trying about 3 weeks ago. I have only had 3 pp periods, so my cycles have been a little longer than normal. I felt kind of queasy one day and thought there was no way I was pregnant. I tested the next morning, and got the faintest line. I couldn't believe it! I am really excited and slightly terrified to have 2u2, but seeing them be best buds is going to be awesome.

We started trying in late June, around our first wedding anniversary, when I went off BCPs. We've been talking about having kids since long before we got married so it felt like past time. At first we were just going to try without charting but my cycles were super wonky and long right after I went off the pill so after two cycles we started charting. I never really got the charting thing down and was constantly forgetting to take my temp until I'd already started my morning routine, ugh, but somehow we ended up pulling it off anyway!

I went off BCP in Jan 2013 since we planned to start trying for our first baby in March. But in those 3 months, I never got a period. My OB gave me a pill that forces a period in hopes of it jump starting things. It didn't work very well... My OB ran all the tests and everything was normal except I had high prolactin (that is the hormone that reduces pregnancy in breast feeding women). She sent me to an endocrinologist, who prescribed me a medication to lower my prolactin. Once my prolactin got to the normal level, we got pregnant on the first cycle (with the help of OPK). The whole process was really unexpected - I'm only 30, and I come from a very fertile family, so I thought I'd conceive easily. But I feel lucky that it all got sorted out in less than a year. Now I just hope this will be a successful pregnancy! Miscarriages are common in my family, so I am nervous. Sending happy and healthy thoughts to all of you!

My current project ends in October 2014 and our DD turned 1 this month, so we decided to start trying again in January thinking a November or December EDD would be ideal. Looks like we got lucky our first crack at it!

This little one was a surprise for us. In December, I had a long streak of working (7 12 hr shifts in a row) and I only pumped twice a day becasue it was a mad house. It completely tanked my supply, so at the end of December DD started on formula (boo) and I got my period shortly after (double boo). I guess we didn't think much about it, and I was just looking at my "chart" the other day and was like, "oh dang, I could be pregnant!" Peed on a stick and here I am! Not the best story in the world, but thankful to still be here. Had fertility issues after my M/C, and I am just so blessed that it all seems to be functioning properly once again. Hoping for a H&H 9 months (for all of us!)

We started trying in May 2013.  After a loss in June, I started charting.  I joined TTGP in September-ish, and I loved hanging out with everyone there until I got my bfp a couple of days ago.

Over the summer, right before DS1 turned 3 & DS2 turned 1, we just stopped preventing.  I got a BFP in October but miscarried in November: After that we were in TTC mode. 3 cycles later we got another BFP and now we're here! Woooo!

My husband and I got married a year ago and due to our age wanted to start trying right away.  Unfortunately I was diagnosed in May with having a very large fibroid in my uterus that needed to be removed surgically.  I had the surgery in July and then we had to wait four months before we could start trying again so that I could heal.  We started trying in November and now here we are, EDD is Oct 4.  We're very excited!

My husband and I have been married almost 3 years now. We were originally going to start trying this coming spring but through a funny miscommunication (I'll spare the details :)) , in October we slipped up and thought we may become pregnant. I looked into it and I wasn't ovulating at the time of our oopsie so chances were slim. I had been having baby fever for almost a year but at that moment, with even the possibility that I MAY be pregnant, I lost it. I told my husband it just felt like j was missing someone who didn't exist yet. That I yearned for them so badly. He was so supportive and said lets just start trying now. I mean really what was the difference in waiting?? We tried for three months. In January when we conceived I had the lowest hopes of any other month because I had the flu during my fertile week and we could only try twice around ovulation. I guess low expectations took my mind off of it and allowed me to get pregnant haha. Two days before we found out we were pregnant we got a little chihuahua. So our family doubled within the same week! :)

I'm loving gtky all through this thread!!

DH and I have been married since April 2012. We just bought a house in August that is perfect and ready for a LO. We've been trying since July 2013. Christmas Eve I got a BFP that ended in a chemical. It's been hard, I know people wait way longer than 7 months, though. With my SIL having my nephew this August and my BFF getting KU on her first try, it was difficult at times. I still don't feel out of the clear yet but if I can make it past Sunday (the DPo of my last chemical) I feel it will be a small victory. \:D/

So my story is not too interesting.  Got up the courage to discuss going off bc with DH a few day before my 32 birthday.  I was suppose to start my new pack the next day (12/29) and he basically implied that he had been waiting on my to be ready.  I had a few issues I was working on with an endocrinologist (hypothyroid, now taking 100mcg Synthroid daily) and with an gastroenterologist (high liver enzymes).  Once I had spoken to each of spoken to each of them to see if they had any objections I figured now time like the present.

So we were not trying because I know so many women that have had ttc so I started charting some items so if we ran into trouble I would have some data to go on.

So when I was 16 dpo  and 2 days late with AF, I went to the Family Dollar and picked up a couple of FRER.   Ran directly into the bathroom when I got home without telling DH what was going on and was blown away.

Walked into the living room and told him and I think we were just so shocked how quick it happened.  Hoping that I will be able to celebrate our first wedding anniversary with this successful bean on April 27th still growing!

With that said, because of the hypothyroid I do get the go to the endocrinologist every four weeks to keep my hormones balanced during the preganancy.  Extra blood draws!! Hooray (and yes I still pass out time to time for those and feel like the biggest wuss!)

DH and I started TTC in September. I got a BFP in November and then had an early MC at 6w1d. We were told to wait 1 cycle before TTC again. Got my LMP 12/29 (I had never been so excited to see AF). Got my BFP 5 days before AF and I was truly shocked! So here I am! Cautiously excited for our little pumpkin!

DH and I wanted our kids to be close in age (DD is 12 months). I didn't get my period back until she was 9 months old since I EBF. I just learned about temping and OPKs and started charting. I started mid cycle my last cycle though so my temps were all whacky from breastfeeding and not sleeping. I did not think we could get pregnant this cycle but lo and behold it happened! I guess it was our first cycle actively trying but we haven't been preventing since October when I got my first PP period. I am hoping and praying for a sticky baby! Right before DD was born I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks (baby didn't have a heartbeat at the ultrasound and measured at 10 weeks) and about 8 years ago I had a surprise BFP that ended in a CP at 6 weeks. I have a good feeling about this one and I am anxiously awaiting the results from my first blood draw!

Sorry to the ladies who have experienced losses.

We were trying 3 months total this time before I got my BFP (but we had put off TTC for a few months due to moving out of state) so it felt like a long time although it really wasn't.

We are so excited to be expecting our third little one!!

This was me, too. My chart was a hot-ass mess. I was sick with a fever for the first week of the month, then I ovulated really late and we only hit two days in the FW. I guess it was enough, though! :)

Too funny!!! Hey are you from Alaska??? I see the AK in our screen name! Is so which part? I'm in Fairbanks!

    edited January 2014
When I was 22 and on my first date with DH I told him I had a timeline (2 yrs of dating, 2 yrs engaged, 2 years of marriage, then kids) and if he thought that was reasonable, that we could continue to date. lol Long story short, we didn't get engaged until being together over 6 years, married around 7yrs, and now we're rounding 8 years together and finally starting our family. I love him immensely, so I let the timeline thing slide :)

I finally talked him into TTC in December 2013, expecting it to take a few months. We got a BFP on Christmas Day and lost it @ 5 wks on 1/2/14. Not knowing what my cycle would be like after the CP, I was surprised to get another BFP on 1/27! Now 4 wks and 1 day, lines keep getting darker, and I have a really good feeling about this one sticking around.

DH and I have been married 4 1/2 years now and kept waiting due to stupid law school loans. We really wanted to pay them down as quickly as possible.

I didn't get my AF in November or December and was concerned. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 and had laprascopic surgery to have some of the cysts and a little endometriosis removed. After not having my AF for two months (which had NEVER happened before) I sort of freaked. We worried that maybe I was pregnant and didn't know it, but it turned out that the PCOS was now affecting my cycles and making me irregular.

After Christmas we decided to give it a shot and I said I was going to temp using FF because I wanted to have all the data in the event we had to see a specialist. Surprise! We got pregnant first cycle.

Now we are just saying a lot of prayers and putting this in God's hands. I just pray for a healthy baby and a healthy pregnancy.

DH and I got married in August, 2012, but we were leaving together for a couple of years. We had 3 miscarriages before, found out i have trombophillis (mthfr cc776h mutations) and now we are on proper medications and pretty confident!!! :-)
