M/s is flaring up...

Due to increasing m/s symptoms, I am concerned I may have to tell my boss about the pregnancy before I am ready. I absolutely want to wait until the 2nd tri, but I was dry heaving in the bathroom at work this morning and had to play it off like I must've caught a stomach virus so I went home. Obviously that won't work again, and my coworkers will figure it out. One even said to me, "Maybe you're pregnant!" Ugh.

I just am not ready to tell anyone else (except our immediate families, who already know), let alone coworkers. This was an unplanned pregnancy to begin with, so we are still wrapping our heads around it.

Our first appt/us is next Tuesday, 2/4. I would still prefer to wait to tell people, even if all is well at the appt. Idk I am torn, I want my privacy with this for a while yet...but every day can't be a sick day. Any input from you ladies?

Re: M/s is flaring up...

  • Can you call your doctor and ask if there is anything you can take to help with the m/s?

I hope you feel better soon.

  • I second what they said, definitely call your doctor, they can prescribe something good!

  • I was put on meds right away, but they only help so much - I ended up having to tell my boss and a few local family members and friends much sooner than I wanted too. You can only cancel plans because you are "sick" so many times before people start to think you are dying of the flu haha!
  • I ended up telling my boss and because of multiple sick days some of my coworkers also who were concerned..  sometimes you can't help it, but do try medications and see if that helps.

  • I started on zofran and it is helping me so much. I did tell my boss but he is the only one that knows. We have a very small office though so I felt comfortable telling him so that just depends on you. My OB also recommended Vit B6 with benadryl at night to help with m/s. I would call them and get some prescriptions/recommendations. Good luck!

  • Thanks girls. I guess I was hoping to avoid meds (idk why...just the mentality of not wanting to put anything in my body that could do harm to baby, I guess). I fold, though! This sucks and being completely unproductive isn't an option - I also work in a very small office.

In addition, have a vacation to Disney World next week with my in-laws, so imagining feeling like this while traveling just tells me I need something besides sea bands and ginger stuff. :) Dr time!
