Moms with older kids - I have a question about TVs and TV stands. DH is concerned with glass doors to our current TV stand. His concern is DD getting her fingers caught. He wants to get a stand without glass or doors, meaning the electronics will be exposed. I am concerned about her pulling at them. My question is how much of a problem has it been for your child(ren) in regards to them opening doors and/or reaching for equipment/wires on exposed electronics like cable boxes/stereos? Also we are both concerned about her trying to climb on furniture. Thanks in advance!

"Life is like a camera, just focus on what's important and capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, just take another shot."
We did this over our fireplace. We did have to hire an electrician.
You might want to check Lowe's. They have a huge childproofing section.
They make plexiglass shields for cable boxes and the like (they are "L" shaped with the bottom of the "L" going under the front of the box and the long part of the L coming up in front of it). That can help with the button pushing. As for wires and cords, there are cord covers and power strip covers that might help.
Our set-up was odd, as we have built in open bookcase-like shelves under where the TV Is mounted on the wall. There is an outlet and cable jack at the back of one of the shelves that, due to angles and locations, could not be tamed with available babyproofing prodcuts. We wound up getting an inexpensive expandable window screen from Home Depot (the kind you would use if you wanted to open a window and it had no screen - you'd put it under the window and shut the window on top of it - KWIM?). We hit the screen part with a light coat of white rustoleum spray paint, so the whole thing looked white and clean, and mounted it over the shelf with 3M super strong velcro strips. Since the shelves are white, it blends pretty well all things considered. [ETA: the velcro is so strong DS can't budge it. He gave up even trying around 18 months.]
Long way of saying you might have to be more creative than available products from stores.
Good luck!
