Office painting

We received an email last week that our office will be painted over the weekend (1st coat), and then a few more times throughout this week.  The email said the paint will be lo-odor, and offered us the option to work at home this week if we need to.  What is your opinion on this?  Did some google research and I'm afraid the low-circulation environment wouldnt be too workable or bearable for anyone, let alone a pregnant woman.

TIA!

Re: Office painting

  • I'd work from home, just to be on the conservative side. :-)

  • Id work from home just so I didn't have to drive in lol the paint wouldn't be a concern for me though.

  • If I had the type of job where it was possible for me to work at home, I would do it whenever I had the option, especially if it might be stinky. ;)

  • We just had our office painted, and unfortunately I don't have the ability to work from home.  Request that your office/area be painted first thing on Saturday morning so it has the longest time to dry/air out before you're back in, and then you should be fine.  I didn't notice any odors at my office, and it's a very closed in space.

    CSC arrived 5/7/12

    CHC arrived 6/2/14

  • We had our stairwells painted and it wasn't a problem.  They were closed off yet the odor wasn't horrible and it didn't cause any problems at all.  But, if you can work from home go for that!

  • I talked to my doctor about paint last week. She said 99% of paints are fine. Just make sure it's ventilated. But I would still work from home so I could enjoy my pjs :)
  • if given the option work from home! no need to shower, put on makeup, or do anything for that matter! Hello sweat pants!! hehe!!

but granted most paints are safe! i would still jump at that opportunity. I work in the construction industry and paint is one of the last smells i worry about!

  • I was super sensitive to paint fumes when we got our kitchen painted, and they blocked all the entrances with plastic and had fans blowing out the window all day and night.  That was also low VOC paint.  If it were me, I'd stay home.

  • stay home in pi's vs. put on clothes = definitely stay home in pjs paint or not.
